A little side project of some LRDG troopers & DAK officers for #ChainofCommand in the Desert or solo games of #DAKAttack. Really enjoyed painting up these little guys.

Blade Runner: Replicant Rebellion came out from Free League this week, so tonight at 1930 UK I will be sitting down with Bruce, a very experienced BR GM and creator of con scenarios, to talk about how different this latest entry into the RPG is.

With HE fire from the Panzer and mortar, along with a sustained fire MG34 pouring more misery on the Royal Irish Fusilier positions, as a flank attack crashed home the situation became untenable, and their Force Morale began collapsed giving victory to the Germans. #spreadthelard
Despite coming under fire from two sides and concentrated Bren fire driving the Panzer back. The British failed to inflict enough damage on the German units in their spirted defence. With teams being wiped out their Force Morale began to fall.
Following the success in the assault on Essars, in the next game of #ChainofCommand the Germans, keen to press home their advantage, pushing forward on both flanks at Gorre to force the Royal Irish Fusiliers to deploy early. As they rushed forward supported by a Panzer III… #spreadthelard.
Well done Adam, I neglected the hashtag. #spreadthelard indeed.
I was sad to miss #Partizan at the weekend, so I got #ChainofCommand out and played an Attack and Defend scenario depicting the Royal Irish Fusiliers defending the outskirts of Essars from elements of the 7th Panzer Division. The Germans made an confident start pushing up with armour & infantry.
Many thanks Andy, I appreciate you saying.
As the Germans pushed forward, a preregistered bombardment on the crossroads causing two German Zugs to be pinned. Despite this they maintained pressure on the defensive positions killing the British Senior Leader. At this the Royal Irish Fusiliers decided to withdraw to the next Map.
The British kept their power dry and waited for the Germans to offer a flank. They opened up hitting the Panzer II but failing to penetrate until the 3rd shot. This gave the Germans the opportunity to respond in kind a return fire, resulting in in the death of the gunners’ J/L…

It’s the gamble of attempting to play with elan, it’s either amazing and you scattered your opposing forces or you come up short and chaos ensues!
It’s very much about the playing apposed to the winning for me.
On checking the what I assume is an AI generated list I can confirm the Austrian 1809 list consisted of German Fusiliers x4, German Grenadiers, Grenzers x2 Jägers x2 and some Hussars.
That’s a great point, about tool rather than a tactic, it is a option to use at the appropriate moment to tip the scales. A good way of thinking about it.
Believe it or not, Geoff got ChatGPT to write a 3 Player scenario- not knowing the period very well I’ll have to check and get back to you.
I agree, it was utter madness, next time I will be more pragmatic and show less Elan.
Yes indeed, I really enjoyed the narrative aspect of the game. I was very impetuous, because I was two against one and I had a flank march to deal so I rolled the dice in the hope of negating the Austrian Line.
Yes, it’s one of my favourite games also, I love the jeopardy of which card will come out first, always a great laugh. All sorts of fun things can happen and it can be filled with character to boot.
Many thanks Paul. I can’t take any credit, they are all Geoff’s toys.
Oh that’s most interesting, I know next to nothing about the Napoleonic Wars, but next time I’ll bring along more skirmishers if I am allowed.
You’re very right, I reckon they need to be used in conjunction with canon, mind its a whole other story moving a cannon in Sharp Practice, I seem to always get it stuck in the mud & roll double two.
