All on board safely made it to shore, then taken to Peterhead where they stayed 10 days. They were then placed on the SS Hansa and transported to New York. This and many other shipwrecks led to Rattray Head Lighthouse being built in 1895.

Her rockets were fired and blue lights burned as both passengers and crew baled water and worked the pumps. With conditions worsening, life boats were launched and an orderly evacuation took place. By morning, Coastguardsmen from Rattray Head arrived to assist.

#OTD 28 Nov 1879 - The SS Union of Norddeutscher Lloyd was on voyage from Bremen to New York with 422 passengers and crew plus general cargo. That night, a storm blew the ship into the rocks at Rattray Head, Scotland just north of Peterhead.

Over the last five years my mental state, post divorce, has gone from grief and defeat, to rebuilding, spiral of depression, rebuilding and then last month I developed a similar anger to Christopher Plummer’s Kaiser Wilhelm II.

I think that means I’m getting better
