Was yelled at elsewhere (told to touch grass) for warning about efforts to get the Supreme Court to take on gay marriage, about Trump WH plans to fuck with elections in 2026 and beyond, etc… saying such efforts will fail.

This naïveté got us here.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best here.

Once again, the main day of Tea Party protests had about 300,000 nationwide, but saw endless coverage.

The No Kings protests had about 7,000,000 nationwide, and many media outlets reacted with a yawn.

No Kings was nearly 25x as big as the Tea Party but the Tea Party got 25x the attention.
Ask yourself this: How would the New York Times have covered the protests if it had been seven million MAGA supporters flooding the streets? We don’t even have to guess: We know how they and other mainstream outlets covered the Tea Party protests during Obama’s first term.

This video from Portland is a metaphor for what is going on in America. ICE trying so hard to get Americans to cross a line and if they don't, dragging them across the line and violently attacking.
You are absolutely welcome. The public sector unions in New York City are trash, and it would be so good if we could nuke them into oblivion.
This cuts to a recurring problem with New York: Even the majority of people who work for various transportation agencies, or who hold political office and advocate for transportation… They do not actually use that transportation themselves in their day-to-day lives.

It’s a major disconnect.
lmfao a VP of the NYC *transportation workers union* is telling people to vote against Zohran because he’s too tough on car owners
Took an after-hours tour last night of Green-Wood, led by fellow GANYC member James Henry, including a visit inside the catacombs. 🪦

They do these tours year-round, but for obvious reasons they sell better in October.
It’s late October, buts it’s Christmas season in Bryant Park.
A late afternoon October walk through Green-Wood Cemetery. 🌅 🪦🍂

ordinary americans are filming ice agents and trying to save their neighbors. for all the hemming and hawing during 2024 about how democracy was an elite concern, the elites gave up far more quickly than average people.
💯
Another reason to not excuse away a guy with a Nazi tattoo just because he’s leading in the polls is because what happens if the guy with the Nazi tattoo wins and then is like, “Fooled you! I actually am a Nazi.”
Remember: A core part of Trump’s message, both times around, was that the United States was a shithole.

The MAGA solution to that is to make it an isolated kingdom (no trade, immigration, etc) run for the vanity of one man, and those who are most servile to him.
Fall colors are still a week or two away from peak across the city, but Prospect Park was looking pretty lovely this morning. 🍂

This is their playbook for the midterms. Intimidation and harassment - if we are lucky it will only be that. Because their full playbook is most likely much worse but this is the warmup act.

This is truly deranged behavior. Also illegal. Also devastating to America’s standing, our economy and the well being of a vital ally. And the enablers and the passive observers and defenders in Congress and the normalizers in the media are all complicit.
It’s insane to me how many Democratic voters complain about John Fetterman, but haven’t learned a lesson from the Fetterman-Lamb primary that got us there.

Enough time has passed that I can definitively say that the “everyone is 12 now” post is THE load bearing post of Bluesky. The hall of famer Bluesky post. It commands respect even from Bluesky skeptics and haters
With so many sides of New York’s dumb political system pushing against them, it’s just obvious to me that ballot measures 2, 3, and 4 are likely gonna fail, and NYC is so screwed when it comes to housing.

It’s all so exhausting.

Please convince everyone you know to vote YES.
just checked Hollingsworth’s insta to see what he’s up to now and lol, lmao even. real chefs kiss

This was an excellent read, and this bit stands out as what's made me most worried over the last few years. The whole information environment is geared to making people angry, afraid or depressed, and before we get to anything as advanced as politics, that's terrible for our brains.
