now that it's October and comfortably jacket-wearing weather again, I think I can say that this was absolutely NOT a moon dragon summer for me smh. I didn't slay ONE dragon, and I hardly met any mountain man magicians

Also I fundamentally object to a board game being like “you can ignore these objectives and make up your own :) or just keep playing aimlessly after you complete them” fuck you! You’re a board game! Your job is to tell me my win conditions, when the game ends, and how to get there! Know your place!

If I’m going to spend 2+ hours on a board game that clearly wants me to be invested in a character and a narrative, it actually doesn’t matter how good the game is, I’m going to be sitting there thinking “I’d rather be playing an RPG if I’m going to be doing character and narrative” the whole time

I think one thing I’m learning about myself is I just don’t like it when media feels like something else 😂 I like novels, I like fanfiction, but I don’t like when fanfic feels like a novel or a novel feels like fanfic. I like board games, I like RPGs, but I don’t like when board games feel like RPGs

The benefit of running monthly board game day at MY house is that I actually really don’t keep up with or buy a lot of board games anymore lmao I just have friends bring whatever, and THEY all keep up with that, so the new hotness shows up here eventually anyway
