Working to remember to savor the time I have here. I think everyone should listen to the last movement of Mahler 4 regularly, among other things.

Why didn't any of our Democratic leaders pay attention to this proposal back in 2021 when it was published, and Nancy Pelosi was running the US House? If they had, would the US and its citizens be in the mess it's now in?

Oh, you're missing out; and while all the main characters are supposed to be heteros, the soap opera presented in the series is compelling, the underscoring is really good, and the scenery is spectacular. I'm ready to visit the Camargue ASAP. And the series feels kinda queer in inspiration.
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, I respect you, but I don't trust you because I haven't heard you and @democrats.org declare absolute dedication to making the US, and Michigan, more nearly a democracy. Fighting for power without holding to principles makes @democrats.org equal to Republicans.
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social and #MichiganDemocrats, once I read of @democrats.org in the state doing those things, when you all demand that state and national governments are operated to fulfill the promises of the Declaration of Independence, I will believe that you are all doing "the hard work."
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, are #MichiganDemocrats demanding that power be truly handed to the people of Michigan, with all governmental activities conducted in the open, and with absolutely no decisions of any sort being made on the down low without full consultation with Michigan residents?
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, are #MichiganDemocrats demanding that the @democrats.org take responsibility for failing to advocate for these kinds of principled changes, and for having instead protected their leaders when they lied to the American people about having committed criminal acts?
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, are #MichiganDemocrats advocating for a review of their State's and the US Constitution, aimed at moving both the Michigan and the US Federal Governments toward democracy and away from rule by a small, usually rich, set of political Elites?
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, are #MichiganDemocrats advocating for enlarging the US House to at least 1000 members and ensuring that all votes from all states are absolutely equal?
We Americans deserve a Constitution that implements the policy statement about inalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence, not a document written to ensure that rich, white, male, landowners maintain power; and as Jefferson advocated for, we need a Constitution that is regularly revised.
And most assuredly, the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929 must be replaced with an appointment scheme that increases the size of the US House to at least 1000 people, ensures vote parity for all voters in all states, and forces House Members to stay in their districts rather than swanning in DC.
And think about how we might limit the ability for people with power to abuse that power. For instance simply requiring all persons elected to public office to offer disclaimers of opinion, when they lie about government systems, operations, or policy; and send them to jail for violations.
Read up on the discipline of Enterprise Risk Management, and consider how its principles might, should, be applied to both the systems and management of our actual government as well as to its operations, as OMB Circular A-123 requires of managers of Executive Branch entities.
It's this search for a hero by @democrats.org that makes me want to emigrate. What I want to hear from @democrats.org is a commitment to making the US Federal Government more nearly democratic and far less the domain of #ProfessionalPoliticians. We need everyday Americans deciding.

Yes. The next thing they should demand is a rescission of the Reapportionment Act which has limited Congress to a bribable number and limits services and funding. We need 1 Rep for every 30k pop like the Constitution said: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reappor...
@krassenstein.bsky.social, hold @democrats.org responsible for their failure to look into the future and assess the risk to democracy inherent in our clearly anti-democratic Constitution, before you spout off about Hatch Act violations. You'll do Americans a much greater service.
@democrats.org and @pelosi.house.gov have known for decades that allowing politicians to lie to Americans was rotting away the fabric of what little democracy Americans enjoy, but they never did anything to fix the problem, because they wanted power more than they wanted a democratic USA.
And while on the subject of lies told by Presidents, why is it that we live in a country where we just accept that politicians lie to us all the time? @democrats.org could have offered solutions to Americans, limiting the right of persons with elevated privileges to make false statements of fact.
@democrats.org, protected a sexual predator who should have been impeached for lying to the American people, and thrown out of office, and now we live under the thumb of a man who is probably a rapist.
@krassenstein.bsky.social, hold @democrats.org accountable for their failure to demand real democracy over the past 50 years, and you will be hitting the right buttons for the US, right now. @democrats.org defended Bill Clinton, so who's going to trust them when it comes to Epstein?
No one cares about the Hatch Act anymore. We blew past that one back in February, and until we see @democrats.org fully embracing real democracy, with a little "d," and promising to move the federal government closer to the promises of the Declaration of Independence we live in Neo-Fascist hell.
Writing "This is absolutely a violation of the HATCH act and must be investigated immediately," without also holding @democrats.org and their last leader, @pelosi.house.gov, accountable for their failures to head tRump off at the pass makes your post seem performative at best.
