To be clear I think he should drop out. But I also recognize that I will not have a ballot in the spring with his name and Schumer's candidate's name on it, so what I think also doesn't matter.
probably isn't gonna make a difference - and, I would argue, *shouldn't* be making a difference - to who Mainers chose to represent them.
I mean, yes and no. The publicity about the whole thing is good (shining a bright light on dark things and all) but then I see people on this site chasing their tails about whether he's the most strategic choice and like... that's not a choice we can make. The endorsement of BlueSky leftists
Something I've observed being gay and Christian is that when you don't actually have skin in the game when it comes to making a difficult choice, it's a lot easier to hold unyieldingly idealistic positions because you never have to actually follow through.
Like obviously I do care who controls the US Senate and I don't think someone dumb enough to even accidentally get a Nazi tattoo should be a senator. However, most of us on this site don't live in Maine and so don't actually have to make a choice in that election.
It's a kind of funny/exhausting side effect of the world getting smaller via the internet that now we're all invested in elections we don't vote in.

Reminder that Violent J of Insane Clown Posse has the correct response to a lot of the shitty things he said in the early days.

the aws outage should be evidence that running half the internet on a single company's servers is a terrible idea but i fear nothing will change
Hmm maybe I'm depressed.
Please don't use AI to make a protest sign. Break out those markers like a real person.
It's very "I had to suffer through this as a kid and so you should too." God forbid our children have an easier time learning than we did...
There was some about a month ago. Generally there's some minor discourse about the protests being for wine mom liberals, but usually from people that can be safely ignored.
Alternate universe! Very good, do recommend picking up.

With Spotify being horrible for musicians in general, but now also running ICE recruitment ads, I best not see any of you f-slurs posting your Spotify wrapped this year.
"God uses imperfect people," etc., etc., etc. It's never been important that Trump et al. were morally upstanding, just that they were doing what the Christian right wanted them to do.

I feel like the inverse is more prevalent - lotta uncut neurodivergence (which arguably is more damning?)
Yeah, KUOW had a segment on this yesterday. It sounds like the strategy they're trying for is to get people to actually show up to the theatre ("You have to actually attend shows if you want the theatre to stick around"). But getting butts in seats is a problem all theatres are having.
From what it sounds like I think it was the continued maintenance that would have done them in. SIFF is not doing well financially from the sounds of it; the Cinerama is also struggling.
