kinda like you're interpreting fandom/fanworks as acts on or against a character.. which uh ... is a little unhinged tbh. also it just presumes the shipper's intentions and just assumes their thoughts which ain't cool either. (2/)

like.. i remember AGAIN in the dark days of the DP fanwar that any slash/lgbt shippers were accused of 'hating' Danny /the show and like even in some cases hurting the characters. and some even blamed the 'bad shippers' for when the show was prematurely cut short (3/)

re shipping i also kinda hate when people who are against a ship claim that the shippers are 'disrespecting' or 'must hate' one of the ship members just.. from shipping it or liking the ship. It sounds...for one (1/?)

these days I find myself not wanting my ships to be canonized because I kinda like non-canoninity because it feels like it allows SO many more possibilities for the ship.

I've also seen cases where a ship became canon and it ended up SUCKING (hello, Danny Phantom)

There's a lot of ships i like specifically as an AU because I ALSO like the canon scenario , personally I don't always really LIKE a ship i'm into becoming canon because i prefer to play with different what ifs, and in a way that's easier to do when its not canon at all.. It's more fun .

That's why I'm glad there are creators now who seem to TRY to prioritize people in fandom having fun and not getting bullied to making sure everyone only creates what they like.

I was on those forums as a teen. The mods were young fans that acted like the creators' enforcers on the internet and they actively made blacklists and declared certain people enemies of the fandom for doing things the creator didn't approve of

Re fandom and ships
I still recall the Butch Hartman official forums in Danny Phantom fandom and it goes to show how bad things can get when a creator gets too involved in shipping and fanworks (1/?)
