A leader would not have lost eight colleagues tonight. This happened because you let it happen or because you’ve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since you’ve been Democratic leader. Either way, it’s on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

President Trump became the first sitting president in nearly a half-century to attend a regular-season NFL game Sunday as he took in a portion of the Washington Commanders' contest against the Detroit Lions.

Some fans booed as Mr. Trump read an oath for members of the military to recite as part of an on-field enlistment ceremony during the break in the game.

They're all bought and paid for. We're all fucked
agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

Tonight I’m thinking of the millions of parents going to bed wondering how they’re going to put food on the table, keep a roof over their heads, pay their utility bills and keep their health insurance without going broke.

The arrogance of a Senator who is not even running again to take the lead in undermining the Caucus and the voters.
Shaheen: So let me be clear. No one in the senate chamber wants to extend the ACA tax credits more than I do.

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

Senators on the brink of retirement who lived full, wealthy lives and never feared the loss of their own healthcare voting for their constituents to die from their inability to afford the same is treasonous

MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.

My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

Dems have spent the past two months saying they're fighting to address the crisis of spiking healthcare costs and now they're caving for a deal that does nothing to address healthcare costs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

If you have a heart and/or soul the Warren Zevon doc "Keep Me in Your Heart" is mandatory viewing
The late Warren Zevon’s final public appearance was a 2002 episode of his friend David Letterman’s ‘The Late Show’; fittingly, the talk show host gave a heartfelt and funny speech inducting Zevon into the Rock Hall last night. The Killers then covered “Lawyers, Guns, And Money” using Zevon’s guitar.

Corporations don’t pay enough to feed you and your family, so you use SNAP.

Then he punishes you for using SNAP instead of taking on the companies that don’t pay you what you’re worth.

We sometimes forget Trump is just an asshole boss. He always finds a way to blame workers.

_If_ Senate mods follow that showing by opting to fold for nothing … I do not think they will expect the backlash they touch off.
