Updated my GitHub readme. It's a node script that updates an animated SVG each day and hits Accuweather's API. Best part now is it links to Bluesky instead of the other site

From my experience this is absolutely true about the times when companies really flourish. From Steve Yegge’s post about @anthropic.com’s culture. steve-yegge.medium.com/the-anthropi...

This post by @rauno.bsky.social from a few years ago is still a great checklist for web UI best practices. #designsky interfaces.rauno.me

Figma’s stock performance is a tragedy because there hasn’t been any major bad news about the company.

Investors believe AI is going to eat the lunch of SAAS products and their customer base is shrinking as companies eschew human designers for AI tools (e.g recent layoffs at Pinterest).

Still think of this old internal GitHub meme anytime someone wants to "just add an option for that"

Wild how far you can push "customizable select" with just #CSS

If you're experiencing this stupid macOS Tahoe bug where your cursor doesn't change to a pointer on interactive elements or you have other other hover jankiness, I found this tip works: move your cursor up to your Mac menubar for a moment and it'll work again. For about 10 seconds, but hey 🤷‍♂️

I miss that era 10-15 years ago where we had a bunch of email client experimentation. Sparrow, Mailbox, Google Inbox, etc.

Claude made a little CLI tool that looks at who you follow on Bluesky then who they follow to surface people you're probably missing. No API key needed. github.com/jasonlong/bsky-orbit

Just set up monthly donations to the #Neovim project because why am I spending more on Hulu than the tool I've relied on for so many years to make a living?

“Is GitHub dead?”

As an ex-GitHub product designer I’ve tended to fixate on the surface level deterioration of the site but this is an interesting take on a larger existential crisis xcancel.com/thorstenball...

I just learned this week that talking to Claude is a thing people do. I've now discovered spokenly.app which is free if you use a local model like Nvidia Parakeet and it's output is basically flawless and instant. I can't believe I'm building software like this now.
Spokenly – Whisper-Powered Mac Dictation App | Best Voice to Text for macOS
Transform your spoken words into text on macOS with a simple click. Advanced AI text processing with local models. No data storing, no sign-ups, just pure dictation.

I've been using @echasnovski.com's MiniMax #neovim setup recently and it's great. I appreciate the consistency across the mini.nvim plugins and how well tested everything is. I'm still adapting after years of LazyVim, but everything feels lean and fast. nvim-mini.org/MiniMax/

Interesting how much of an outlier Hong Kong is for avg steps per person. From StepsApp users so maybe skewed somewhat.

Vangelis (Blade Runner, Chariots of Fire, etc.) scored 8 hours of music for microsurgery training videos back in the 90s and they made their way onto YouTube. Now CSSing with surgical precision. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo3t...

If you test light vs. dark mode styling often, try adding a keyboard shortcut to "Toggle System Appearance" in @raycast.com. I recently assigned a Hyper key (right ⌘) in Raycast and flip back and forth with Hyper-Space.
