New video: Censorship 4 - The Death of Language

Algospeak is incredibly annoying. Unalive, grape, corn star. It’s annoying, but worse than that, it represents something far more sinister: an attack on language itself. Yes, this is me talking about how TikTok and other are evil.

As usual, art, speech, and the internet are under attack from banks, credit card companies, payment processors, & conservative politicians/interest groups

So let's talk about Steam, Itch.io, PayPal, Stripe, Visa, MasterCard, Collective Shout & more

Tuesdays, I've decided, are for poetry. So have this, about a TYA musical I wrote in college and a man who died. It's from my ekphrastic poetry collection A Museum of Art and Eggs

Idk, I thought the gooning article was bad on multiple fronts, and I find the fawning over it to be highly pathetic. 🤷‍♂️

Ever thought, "Wow! I wish I could read an annotated absurdist short play about a man who thinks his piss is so hot, it ought to count as a superpower! It could only be made better if the playwright included some short essays about the play..."

I've got just the thing for you!

Reminder that Project 2025 redefined pornography in its massive policy plan to include any media that includes trans people. They will use the attacks on erotic art as a pretext to go after queer people. The moves to sanitize and infantilize the internet are part of this assault on speech.
There are a lot of calls to support independent media, rightfully so. But one problem is that substack's biggest investor is Andreesen Horowitz. Another is if the right wing mob figures out how to target stripe next, everything they disfavor could be easily targeted and defunded to silence dissent.

To disengage from the doom of social media for a moment: Between this, the attacks on speech from conservatives re: Kirk, the anger at ABC/Disney for capitulating, and more, we might be about to witness a massive pro-speech, pro-art movement. There is hope in that, and hope is important
Starting to hear rumblings from organizers, activists, interested parties that they want to advance further on protesting payment processors. Not enough to call, not enough to sign petitions. It’s time to protest in person, IRL at the locations of these businesses — PayPal, Visa, MasterCard

I have an annoying habit of only ever listening to the same habit on repeat for months. In other words, I recently listened to The Fame Monster for the first time. It has been replayed probably... 20 times the past couple of weeks?

Sometimes I hope the two adult musicals I've written would become historical (meaning not that they became popular or anything but that they became irrelevant to the political moment). But unfortunately internet radicalization and gun violence seem here to stay for now
