For people who have waved off Trump’s rhetoric in the past as outrageous but not actionable, consider this:

The coming Trump “crime bill” will likely include provisions that make it easier for the DOJ to label political opposition as “organized crime”
The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

Yesterday 28 House Dems joined Republicans in overturning DC's bail policies.

Many of these are "front-liners" who have been advised by lame consultants that bashing DC, criminal justice, and immigrants is the path to victory.

That's dangerous & wrong.

The House has passed H.R. 5214, a bill to return DC to cash bail.

Cash bail creates two tiers of justice, one for people with money and one without. DC abolished it more than 30 years ago and crime has dropped precipitously since.

H.R. 5214 is wrong and we will continue to fight its passage.

Right now the House is holding a sham, partisan hearing about crime in Democratic cities.

Pay attention - they are teeing up Stephen Miller's "crime bill", coming to you in time for next year's midterms.

Thankfully @raskin.house.gov is pushing back!

Tomorrow the House votes on a bill that overturns D.C's bail system and imposes cash bail for the first time since 1992.

This will make DC less safe, erode home rule, and preview what Stephen Miller wants to bring to the whole country.

We need every Dem to vote NO.

The coming Trump "crime bill" is dangerous and wrong.

But if we start organizing now, we can defeat it. In my latest Substack post, I go deep on what could be in the legislation, why it's dangerous for democracy, and how it could play out in Congress.

The coming Trump “crime bill” is dangerous and wrong, but we can fight it and win
If we organize Democrats now, we can have a real fight about the best way to keep Americans safe, and reject a bill that will expand Trump's power to prosecute his opponents.

There are many problems with how we are rushing into an era of massive data center construction.

These projects will drive up local energy costs, lead to more fossil fuels coming online, and strain water supply, all for limited jobs and profits that will go to big tech.

Horrifying thread.
good morning, short thread on the raids in Camarillo, Ventura County, California. Friends of mine were tear gassed and fired upon with "less lethal" bullets for showing up with a bullhorn.

They carted away busloads of farmworkers.

Families torn apart. Children sobbing. This is Trump's America.

Update - between the major unions, Staten Island, the Upper West Side, and Brooklyn, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social is close to choking off Cuomo or Adams from having any string base of support.

When Donovan Richards and some of the Bronx comes in, they'll be out of angles.

Sometimes in campaigns ypu meet the most remarkable people.

Herbert Murray turned his wrongful incarceration into a story of justice & perseverance. He was willing to fiercely go toe to toe with anyone, including a mayor, to close Rikers. Sadly, prison took years off his life.

May he rest in power

The best takeaway from this Emerson poll is that Cuomo IS beatable, and he knows it. Likely the reason he is running on a non-Democrat line as well

It's NOT inevitable, folks

Like most things you care about, his position on minimum wage depends on what helps him at the time, not NYers
Mayoral frontrunner Andrew Cuomo rolled out a proposal today to raise NYC's minimum hourly wage to $20, but the plan would need Albany’s backing, in part because he as governor blocked an effort to let the city set its own salary standards. www.nydailynews.com/2025/05/28/c...
