I like how we use the terms green field and brown filed projects with swapped meaning, just because the desire is so big to call the existing code bases shit=brown

Why don’t all services send pdf invoices as default? Why don’t invoices usually have the company in the file name? Why is cursor splitting a month in 10 unmanageable invoices? Do US companies not require accounting? I would estimate the amount of work wasted in the gazillions.

All software should work offline or when the server is down with whatever data you have cached locally. Serving from cache for dynamic requests should have been the default on the web instead of everything breaking down.

The golden rule that Alan Kay will mention some system from the ’60s or ’70s as still being unsurpassed by today’s tech in every talk he gives, without ever giving a hint as to what exactly is still unsurpassed, still holds true.

sovereignty is mostly bad for people and good for states, it's important to not mix those up

digital sovereignty is not really a good goal for people
Not a fan so far of "sovereign" displacing "open" in all things AI/tech in the EU.

How is anyone getting any work done here when left of me someone is discussing a novel with his editor (I agree the story of alex should be way more central and i want to know more about his backstory)

Landlording shouldn't be a for-profit industry.

I said what I said. Before you get your boxers bunched about "who will manage apartment buildings?" please actually just go look up public and co-op housing.

All landlords do is drive up housing costs. That's it. They provide no social benefit.

Hey, I just launched an app called Antler. The app showcases how we can rebuilt WeChat Mini Apps, but using open web standards.

Dearly lacking discourse in local-first... the prerequisites for "data ownership" is it must be freely addressable (e.g. via the file system) and one must be able to adversarially do things with it (e.g. open/ubiquitous formats).
Having data in indexeddb is no more "owned" than having it in an http cache. Both are on your hard drive. Both are obscure formats you can't and won't do anything with. Data ownership requires using open formats. Almost no one doing local-first is even trying to do that.

It’s completely mind boggling to me to see HP, xerox PARC, NeXt inc, tesla and vmware are all basically in the same city block.
