Server crashed tonight. Started flooding the network with who knows what, basically DDOSing everything on the network. Thought my router was busted for a good hour before I realized it was the server. Everything should be back up now. Hope it doesn’t happen again lol 🤞

At my day job, I put "Install VLC media player" into our workstation deployment SOPs YEARS ago because of this.
You meet the users where they are to stop them doing the stupidest shit imaginable.
You have no idea how much this paid off. The number of infected media players people downloaded in the age before Windows Media Player had more than three codecs is unimaginable
