Trump has a short memory: after Soleimani’s assassination, Trump warned Iran not to retaliate or he’d strike 52 sites. Iran hit Al Asad airbase, injuring 100+ U.S. troops. Trump didn’t respond militarily, and his Twitter threats quickly faded.
It appears that more U.S. assets are heading into the theater, likely in preparation for possible strikes on Iran if negotiations fail.

If Iranians weren’t so stubborn & principled, they could easily secure a good deal and concessions from Trump—who is ego-driven, thrives on validation, and is highly susceptible to flattery—simply by showering him with compliments & offering a photo opportunity in Tehran.
