Indigenous Author and screenwriter, member of HWA, creator of This Rotten World and One Night Stand at the End of the World. Ask me about my writing coaching gig.
Also, a piece I wrote specifically as a piece for Thanksgiving is "A Chemawa Thanksgiving" which is featured in my collection Bury My Heart with a Keyboard. It's dark, but encapsulates the complex feelings I have around this holiday and its colonial myth trappings. It's on kindle unlimited for free

Woke up and shredded 2k words. Now baking up One Night Stand #8. Got 26k words. Gonna let it sit for a minute. One Night Stand in a Place with No Name is perfect Thanksgiving reading... just about the grossest feast I've ever seen/written.

If you love horror that subverts tropes and follows an unlikable (and dare I say unreliable) protagonist, pick up a copy of Night of the Mannequins by @sgj.bsky.social! It's a banger.

Jacy's Writer's chat question 1. Make sure to copy, retweet, and then print it out and wipe your butt with it when you answer. Here's the questch. How do you ensure people will like your MC? I don't. I want you to hate them. Then hate me. Then hate words so hard you go, Oh... I kinda like it now.

Had the bright idea the stuffing would come out better if I broke these Trader Joe's stuffing breadcrumbs into more uniform pieces. Should say stuffing breadcrumbs/razor blades on the label. Extra flavor in the stuffing this year.

The only reason I write is to make money to buy a guitar and take music lessons until I'm good enough to start my own ska band. Won't you buy some of my books?

After 8:30-8:30 conferences the last two days, I thought I was gonna hit the ground running with writing. But, I only managed 2k words on One Night Stand #8, and I find myself still tired. Now at 24k words. First revision of TRW 12 is now at 133/231 pages. Gonna chill and watch things.

2 ongoing convos are dovetailing rn:
1. a holiday shopping $ blackout aimed at big business;
2. worry over small presses closing or paring down.

Let's talk direct action: YOU CAN DO BOTH😀

IT'S VITAL TO SUPPORT indie pubs that encourage risk & diversity. Here's a 🧵 of em you can support directly:

Been cracking keys on One Night Stand 8... boy did that get weird fast. Added 2k words today, bringing it up to 19k words. Gonna revise This Rotten World 12 now. Been dragging on it because of my aversion to revising. Hoping that one day, books will just come out perfect after the first draft.

Thanks for including One-Shot!

I had to do my 2k words after work. Just finished it up. One Night Stand #8 now up to 11k words. Onto some editing for This Rotten World. At 96/230 pages on TRW 12. Have Knives Out playing in the background. Hope you all had as good a Tuesday as you could possibly have.

Took a minute to get my 2k words done, but I added 2k to One Night Stand Outside the Fortress of Good. Now at 9k words, which is like 20% of the way through a One Night Stand book. Off to revise. Now at 86/230 pages on This Rotten World 12.

From Milt Theo's review. "Wow, this was an incredible, one-sitting read for me! An extraordinary take on Native American horror, capped with a good dose of cosmic horror - simultaneously brimming with psychological insight and urban grit, all told with a strong sense of heart-piercing authenticity."

Finished all my grading yesterday, found myself doing some writing today. Now up to 7k words on One Night Stand 8. Check out parts 1-7 if you like bizarro post-apocalyptic horror. Just worked in another song parody and a flashback of the comedian. Gonna go revise This Rotten World 12 now.

The way this book has resonated w/readers—on an emotional level, a visceral level, a nauseous-terrified-cold-pit-of-my-stomach level—has been supremely satisfying.

If you haven't experienced him before: boy howdy can @jacymorris.bsky.social weave a suspenseful story❄️🩸💀

I've been meaning to post and post and post about how great We Like it Cherry is. I've recommended it to a ton of people and y'all should really pick up a copy. Arctic, indigenous, ancient, survival horror. It's just amazing.

Behold! Fruithulhu. One bite will threaten a person's sanity. It has mad flavor. Honestly, I don't know what this thing is. My wife told me, then I promptly forgot and started pretending I have a baby Old One on the counter.
