I frequently say you don't need to protest. You don't! There are a thousand other ways to push back on fascism if protesting doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you!

Picked up my NE Regional ticket to DC for the 18th. Usually I prefer local stuff but I lived in DC for 12 years and it's a protest on the National Mall. Feels like I need to be there. Now for the sign and frog hat.

Never been in an out-and-out street fight but I've seen video of myself in judo tournaments and... yeah. Not pretty. And judo is SUPPOSED to look good on TV, the rules are optimized around the Olympic viewing experience.

English teachers do more to discourage the love of reading than all the video media on the internet put together. English classes teach the kids who don't read that reading is a tedious interpretive exercise and teach the kids who do read that they're not reading right.

How hard does a Constitution have to fail at it's most basic goals before we decide we need a new one? We tested this one. It didn't work. There's no going back to a pre-Trump executive without a symbolic and legal reset. Otherwise we just see the ratchet tick toward tyranny a little further

Fantastic article. It worries me today that even as a politically engaged person I'm hard pressed to name leaders with the strategic acumen and courage of the Civil Rights Movement leadership. There are good progressive leaders, but who has the profile to set national strategy?
