We’re now approaching the second 1/2 of the 2020s, and if you’ve watched any number of documentaries on previous decades, you’ll know that they all end in a world virtually unrecognisable from the one they started as. We’ll only fully appreciate this in 2030 but the half-way mark always bears signs.

Christmas trees should not be up at the time of the Autumn Budget.

I feel very strongly about this. Either curb your enthusiasm and don't put the trees up til December, or have the Budget in actual autumn. I don't mind which*, but red boxes and fairy lights do not mix

*the answer is obviously both

Flat Earth, by Anika Jade Levy: a review

Can concur. I've been to the Frick three frickin' times and have only the wateriest memories.
(my viciously snobbish take on the Frick, having finally been, is that if you live in Europe and have put even just *some* effort into going to the big museums there then it just isn't all that remarkable as a collection, but bless the yanks for giving it a decent go)

More power to @profangiehobbs.bsky.social – I hope this revival of The Great Philosophers brings about the rebirth of deep learning through television.

Archived programming on YT from the 70s and 80s has been a gift for two whole decades, but it’s time to put philosophy back on the mainstream menu.
