"Why don't they look (at #MST3K 520, Radar Secret Service, with the short Last Clear Chance)???" We finally looked. Our Sam Newfield festival continues — and hey, why don't we also check Newfield's most notorious film, The Terror of Tiny Town?

On your podcast app or itsjustashow.com/episode/182
Screen shots of MST3K's episode, Radar Secret Service. Here, a distant train is coming at us down the tracks. Danger! Two engineers look at (an offscreen) tragedy caused by their bloodthirsty trains. "Why don't they look?" one of them asks. In a different movie, a metal ball on top of a car from the 40s lets you know that RADAR is on its way! (This Radar Secret Service doesn't seem like much of a secret.) Down in Deep 13, Dr. F and TV's Frank (in a beard) talk about the Hypno Helio Static Statis in today's film that makes it so boring. (All of the walls of Deep 13 seem pretty stable.)

I haven't heard the Growing Up with Manos audiobook, but the book itself is a delight. And weren't we just talking about how fun we found Frank's reading of Twenty Five MST3K Films....? So, you know, treat yourself.

Can't believe we weren't able to go to this.

In our latest episode we revisit MST3K 507, I Accuse My Parents — and the episode of The Mads Are Back where they tackle it, and the chapter of Frank's book (now out in audiobook!) where he talks about it. All of which are very good.

Screenshots from the MST3K episode on I Accuse My Parents. This is from the short, The Truck Farmer, and shows an endless field of crops getting sprayed with an endless supply of chemicals. OK, probably not endless — it's just one guy in a vehicle spraying things — but it looks like not gonna stop any time soon. From the movie: Young Jimmy measures nightclub singer Kitty's feet for a new pair of shoes. (In a shoe store, not in a night club.) He's going to tell her the wrong size, but for once Jimmy's not lying. He makes an honest mistake! He doesn't know what he's doing yet — but she's his first customer. At the nightclub, Kitty sings a song that will be rattling around my head even in the grave. Joel (with a hastily painted on pencil moustache) enjoys GPC's performance of that song. She look even more glamorous than Kitty!

Thanks! I get the frustration (though I also get why they might feel like they need to keep quiet about their plans).

Let's get stuck in MST3K 1312, The Bubble! They say the movie is worse than Manos — could that be true? Who is this Arch Oboler guy anyway? And what about this movie will make Charlotte say: I object!

Listen to our latest episode and find out! itsjustashow.com/episode/180
Screenshots from the MST3K episode on The Bubble. Here, a man tells the woman who just gave birth to his child that she's already got her sexy figure back. Two men have found the edge of the bubble. "It's a wall made out of glass!" one of them says. ("It's called a window," Tom notes.) The town they're stuck in is absolute mishmash of whatever they could find in a backlot. Old West general store? Stone grotesques? Why not! As long as it's brown. Oh, there's also a little freakout section where disembodied masks of heads float towards you (because this was originally released in 3D). But this is not The Mask.

Yeah I decided not to revisit that part of the story…

Our new episode should drop tomorrow. Are you ready to re-enter... The Bubble?

Oh I know. And even if it was an episode-by-episode MST3K deep dive, that would still be fine! There's plenty of other perspectives to look at these movies/episodes from.

Just kidding. The people want Manos, Final Sacrifice, and Mitchell, if that helps. Maybe Werewolf. Mac and Me could bring in a second crowd.

We celebrate a big birthday by looking at MST3K 203, JUNGLE GODDESS. Hoo boy, that's gonna give us something to talk about. But also there's the first chapter of The Phantom Creeps!

Screenshots from the MST3K episode on Jungle Goddess. Here, George "Superman" Reeves and Robert "Dick Tracy" Byrd stand next to Wanda "Jungle Goddess" McKay, as they try to get out of the jungle. Meanwhile in The Phantom Creeps, Bela Lugosi shows off his adorable giant robot to his assistant. We see Crow and Tom Servo through an "intestine scope" (i.e., a matte stencil of an intestinal track), for some reason. Joel and the bots star in the wacky sitcom My White Goddess! High-larious.
