The almost universal use of “Victorian disease” in UK news reporting about tuberculosis only stigmatises further the people living with it today. When we name TB today as a disease of the Victorian slums, we call the people ill with TB today its inhabitants.

As I lie in bed having had non-stop back pain for nearly a week, a reminder to please exercise kindness to people with chronic physical and mental health problems as the weather is changing. It can often temporarily exacerbate conditions, including for people like me with implanted metal in my body.

Not infectious ≠ not affected! Check out our latest TB Ed Talk with Dr. Carole Mitnick, where she shares the importance of patient centered care that continues post-TB. Plus a CTA that's right up our alley (spoiler: it involves memes)

I feel like I can’t make anything (film wise) because I don’t have the endless money and people power to do it to the absolute best of what I can imagine, so then I feel like I can’t start it because then I’ll “waste” the idea? Please tell me I’m not alone in this, and also what to do about it 🙃🙃

I have spent this week volunteering at Sheffield Documentary Festival, and seen some truly incredible films. It’s also helped my clarify some of my own ideas, including a short documentary about TB which I hope to make within the next couple of years!

Thing I am excited about for my trip Thursday night edition - the travel cards for Paris are SO COOL, and they use NFC so you can top them up USING YOUR PHONE!!! Why doesn’t London have that for Oyster cards, it would be so much easier!!!!

And yes I do already have the app installed. I am READY.

Almost exactly a year ago, I found out my dad had died. Here’s where I’m at:

I have a folder of videos and live photos where I can hear his voice - I’m worried I’m forgetting it

I can’t imagine what my life today would look like if he was still here - I don’t know how I feel about that

One thing I continue to struggle with is that my dad’s death was no one’s fault, but also completely preventable and unnecessary. And I find it hard to experience that anger, which I don’t think will go away and I don’t know that I want it to, and learning to be ok with a life where he is not here.
Friday 25th marked a year since I last saw my dad. Yesterday marked what should have been his 54th birthday. Tomorrow will be 1 year since he died. It’s 11 days until my mum’s birthday.

A challenging time of year!!

Apparently bingo is so gripping it can distract you from the fact you’re in a war zone
During WWII the US deployed a Naval ship whose sole purpose was to make, store, and provide ice cream to troops actively deployed to heavy combat areas. Now you can't even have 9 ball
