Thought of it as soon as I saw the results!
(which I'm not, and I'm not advocating vigilante stuff, blah blah chill out Bsky's weirdo centrist mods)
They're on video doing and/or bragging about the crime, they're just about all middle-class cishet white people, they could have stayed home and eaten holiday leftovers...hell, I'd bring back drawing and quartering if I was in charge.
100%. I'm against the death penalty and the carceral system and in favor of restorative justice...85% of the time. Everyone in that fucking mob is in the other 15%, tbh.
(And while we're here, while there's a place for general physical education, making kids learn team sports five days a week does not quite encapsulate everything wrong with American culture, but it's up there.)
...and it was weird the degree to which, as you say, middle and high-school history emphasized that. (And testing in general: in real life, you do in fact get to look shit up!) But that may have changed since my day.
I haven't had to use either, really, because I *do* always have a calculator with me and my job is editing/writing, but knowing how to use the technology to do the problems is super useful.

Mostly I think *memorization* is almost entirely useless after about sixth grade...

Turning the Civil War from "a tragedy, brother against brother" into "The Good Guys Destroyed The Bad Guys" is necessary. It is absolutely essential. The fourth grade class I attended in the 1990s sang Dixie every morning and we need to completely stomp that out.

I like that Dark Woke has a patriotism rooted in the Civil War. We need this.
We’re operating on horror movie rules here: cut off the head, set the body on fire, and don’t believe anyone who says they’re on your side while wearing high-necked shirts.

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.
Reiterating that AG was a year or two ahead of me in college and sources said his kinks were…well, let’s say you couldn’t leave leftovers in his dorm fridge.
(OK, I fully embraced that era like five years ago when I started citing Midsommer Murders tropes in conversation, BUT STILL.)
Serious “my ponies hate you now” energ. (IYKYK and also IYK stretch before lifting anything.)

The billionaires can buy the newspapers and buy social media and buy attack ads, but they can't buy their way out of how much we fucking hate all of them.
Fully embracing my cringelib normie wine aunt era and admitting that I’ve had “This Is What It Sounds Like” in my head for the last 8 hours or so.
Oof, yeah. Or the equivalent to get Medicare in your seventies.
Just eyeing US Healthcare in Cynical Romance Novelist and wondering if marriage of convenience is going to become a trope in contemporary novels now.
In other news: GET IN THE FUCKING ROBOT, SHINJI.
In re: a visual novel storyline that I kinda hate: dude, it's the apocalypse. I'm sure there are things about which I could care *less* than your mommy issues, but I'm having a hard time coming up with one.
“I dunno, Keith, it’s not like you’re going to do any better. Certainly not with that haircut.”
If you use your phone on speaker in public/a public office space, you are going to Hell.

Same goes for listening to media on public transit without headphones.

If you and your SO argue loudly enough for the other people in your train/plane/apartment building to hear, they get to comment.
Can’t not hear ”the resistance is over” and not think of Kylo Ren, who was approximately as right.
This! And the causes are generally some variant of not having enough spare time (because Reagan, basically), not having enough third spaces/free activities, and not being able to count on neighbors/co-workers not to be dicks, and…hell, I’m blaming Reagan for that too.
