So yes - sentiments such as “don’t settle for being an option” sound reaffirming and empowering, but imo they’re very shallow. We’re all options. Life is full of them. It’s what you do with your options that matters, right?

I think the only time you can guarantee being a priority is if you have children or pets, and I have neither because that isn’t what I want, really. I don’t want to have to rank the people in my life in order of importance. That sounds miserable. Is it not enough to just be?

My partner is older than me, and has more life experience, and definitely more dating experience - I’m not so naive to think he’d undeniably choose me if life had played out differently. I’m probably a consolation prize. And I’ve made peace with that.

Especially as we all get older, and have lived a thousand lives, it gets to a point where it’s impossible to not be someone’s second choice. I’m 32. Most people my age have kids/are on second marriages already. And for those who don’t have those factors in their lives,

Maybe I’m jaded (and I’d love to hear opinions on this), but I feel like the sentiment “never be anyone’s second choice,” while well-intentioned, feels a bit… naive? Idealistic?

7. Muiren is the more showy one, so they’re likely to perform grand gestures - expensive date nights, flower petals on the bed etc. Celosia is timid with the way she shows love, but she will always make sure that Muiren is fed and warm.

6. Similarities: both have an affinity for sweets, have parents that care just a little too much, and get excited over aquariums.

Differences: the ways they approach love, their interests, also I feel like their music tastes would also be drastically different lol

3. TAoCD was supposed to be a stand-alone book but I fell so in love with these two background characters that I pushed them together and then wrote a whole book for them! If that doesn’t scream “OTP” i don’t know what does tbh
