It took me about 10 minutes to leave Spotify and move to … Qobuz. Almost everything about it is better. There’s a couple quirky irritating experience things and also I will never say “Qobuz” aloud. They can change the name! Also I don’t know who they are but they really care about new music.
Spotify is garbage on every count: Its treatment of artists, its ICE advertising, the CEO's investment in military AI, its leading role in the commodification and AI slopification of music, its terrible audio quality—you name it.

So I quit, and put together a complete guide to getting off Spotify:

I searched for an English translation for the lyrics to the Hungarian folk carol “Kiskarácsony, Nagykarácsony” and frankly, I don’t even care if this is correct because I love it

I passed by some Vietnamese place called Bone and Broth, which really sounds like some gentrification shit, like why would you ever go to a Vietnamese place without a number in the title

I never got a Qobuz year in review for 2024 despite getting one for 2023. Nevertheless!
Gentle suggestion that if you cancel Spotify now whatever you switch to will have a full year to give you a recap next year

Recommending a recipe to a friend and calling it "foolproof" seems fine and normal but calling it "idiot-proof" instead seems somehow like a cruel insult.
