The Paul George Transaction Tree

6 Pacers that have some connection in their transactional lineage that goes all the way back to the Paul George for Victor Oladipo and Domas Sabonis deal:
Tyrese Haliburton
Andrew Nembhard
Ben Sheppard
Pascal Siakam
Johnny Furphy
Tristen Newton

Absolutely. I don’t think there will be many center groups with that extreme level of poor play though. Just preseason though and two guys returning from Achilles and one that’s getting adjusted to the conditioning level needed with Indy.

I know many Pacers fans aren’t going to be ready to watch Starting 5 yet but I’m so glad they followed Tyrese last year and we have all these moments documented in ways that we wouldn’t have normally.

Tyrese Haliburton shared a clip from Starting 5 which comes out in a couple days. My heart wasn’t prepared.

“I’m going to work my ass off to get back there and I’m going to do it in a Pacers uniform.”

"He took the shots that were the right shots," Carlisle says of Mathurin. "When he runs and lets the game come to him and makes simple reads, his scoring is a major factor."

Ignoring Wemby who obviously is a big reason for the struggles during his 25 minutes, just Luke Kornet went 6 for 6 with 16 and 7.

Pacers four centers tonight:

3 points, 0 for 10 combined, 11 fouls, 1 assist, 3 turnovers, 10 rebounds, 4 steals in 43 minutes

All the points by the center least likely to still be on the team at the start of the year. Rough one.

McGlothan with the tip dunk

Exhibit that 10 dunk

…I’m sorry

It has to be so bizarre for these giant humans playing center to be dwarfed by Wemby on the basketball court to this degree. There’s no way he’s only 7’5”
ipacers.bsky.social
It was very rough for both of them. Wemby is a big reason why but neither has looked great even without him on the floor tonight so far.

The Pacers centers combined for 0 points (0-3, all Huff), 3 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 5 fouls in 19 first-half minutes.

They did manage 4 steals.

Pacers trailing the Spurs 69-66, led by a perfect half from Mathurin: 27pts on 9/9 shooting. Team assisted on 17 of 24 FGs and made 13 triples, which impressed. Three starters with 2+ 3s.

Still questions at center. 0pts, 3rebs, 5PFs combined from Jackson & Huff.

27 points on 9/9 shooting in the first half

Capped by a 35-footer to end the half. So impressive.

20 points for Bennedict Mathurin in the first half so far and he’s yet to miss a shot 👀

Huff and I-Jax playing together to end the half against Wemby and Kornet.

Taelon Peter, still doing stuff

Carlisle mentioned that Huff is getting accustomed to a new level of being in shape to be able to play at the Pacers pace and Quinn noticing that he looks like he didn’t have any legs on his 3rd attempted 3.

Adjustment period for him as his body gets used to this level of pace.

Ridiculous reach on these type of plays, threw a lob in transition after he got a steal to lead the break, powered straight through Isaiah Jackson with ease

That lottery night will haunt me forever

Nesmith went to the other side of the rim so Wemby couldn’t block his shot… and Wemby blocked it

Bennedict Mathurin with back to back triples including one after sizing up Wemby.

Hello internet. If your outlet/one you know of is looking for someone to cover the Pacers and/or Fever, would love to chat. Looking for more work covering both teams.

Q has been awesome in the preseason. Really looked poised to eventually get converted to a standard deal potentially some time this season. Hopefully it’s minor and doesn’t keep him out long.

Quenton Jackson has a sore right hamstring, and Jeremiah Johnson reports that he won't return tonight.

TJ McConnell is going to be out at least a month, Rick Carlisle says.
