Finally decided it was time to sit down and trim the pokemon card collection. Ended up with two stacks split by language, each about 10cm tall. Gonna head down to the local tcg shop and give em away.

LRT: always down for more reporting on Shadow of the Colossus and damn if that piece isn’t one of the best I’ve ever read about the game.

For the Shadow of the Colossus story, we interviewed 14 people including project leads Fumito Ueda and Kenji Kaido, hired Gravity Rush concept artist Takeshi Oga to illustrate the cover, and put together a 10,000-word story with help from @milkman.bsky.social @shmuplations.bsky.social and others.

Took full advantage of bandcamp friday yesterday to load it up with some new soundtracks and bulk up my coding playlist. Nothing like tackling bugs to the tune of a french rock opera about love and grief.
it’s old and banged up but it can still handle a couple hundred tracks like a champ (and at better quality than spotify to boot)

Stumbled upon Une vie a t'aimer while digging through Expedition 33's files in search of some other audio, so that's gonna be playing in my head again for the foreseeable future.

It's my birthday, so it would be super cool if you share/read my webcomic! It's got little queer people inside, only 17 pages so FAR. Maybe leave a nice comment if you're so inclined. ❤️

The fact I’ve had my website for over a year and haven’t used it to talk about AW2 or D2 yet is both a show of massive self-restraint, and also a mistake that needs to be fixed.
working on a new blog post all about little inconsequential details in games, and how much I love them.

i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?
If I had to guess, the longer you let a player get dependent on smth the harder it’s gonna hit when it’s ripped away. Double that if the expectation of loss isn’t on the table— in Mass Effect I know my choices can lead to NPC deaths, so it’s less shocking than losing Agro (a main mechanic) in SotC.
Asher Mir. Claire in Unwound Future. The Alice Wake fakeout in AW2— while it had me I was in total shock.

And then the big one in a certain 2025 title left me with an uneasiness in the pit of my stomach that didn’t go away for a *long* stretch of that game. Could argue I’m still not over it.
this is for science*: tell me about a time when you experienced loss in a game, and were genuinely bummed out for awhile. did you come back from it?

no mockery or comparisons or arguments please, just curious the kinds of moments that folks think of.

*or art, you know how game design goes

"Political violence" is a term that exists to suggest a moral distinction between "violence against politicians" and "violence by politicians" - so that one can be condemned while the other can be normalized. Obviously, no such distinction exists in reality: violence is violence.
I’ve gotten to the bit of Death Stranding where you can place zip lines and there really is nothing more satisfying than placing ones in the perfect position and zipping around the map in record time.
The idea of a group of atheistic eliksni or free-thinking vex would be insanely cool to explore in Destiny! Just not in this context :p
anytime someone talks about star wars with reverence it makes me feel like an alien who doesn’t understand human entertainment. it’s a thousand times more generic than destiny’s worldbuilding and will drag it down by association. yes I am a hater.
