My first ever chapbook came out in the UK last week – “Old Tutor, New Tutor” with Nightjar press. It’s been paired with Imogen Reid’s intriguing “Fabrication”. Many thanks to Nicholas Royle for accepting the piece. nightjarpress.weebly.com/old-tutor-ne...

Nicholas Royle ends his much appreciated comments on A Personal Anthology by saying that, like a favourite bar or secondhand bookshop, it shouldn't be allowed to close.

I agree! But it can only go on as long as there are contributors, so if you'd like to take part, please get in touch!

Nick's been a brilliant contributor to the project - he was one of the first people I asked to take part, and you can read his original anthology (all twelve stories first published in The London Magazine) and other occasional contributions here: apersonalanthology.com/category/nic...

This is in BEST BRITISH SHORT STORIES 2025. I'm quite frankly floored at this, Nick was in the very first anthology I edited in 2010 and remains someone whose talent I am staggered by. That he feels that I am a part of this august group has genuinely floored me.

Delighted to have my copy of @saltpublishing.com’s Best British Short Stories 2025, edited by the indefatigable @nicholasroyle.bsky.social, who in his wide-ranging and goodness-filled introduction very generously bigs up the “brilliant idea” of A Personal Anthology, my online short story project.

Christmas music on incredibly loud in Costa. Jingle bells like a drill. Really gives ‘Fabrication’ by Imogen Reid a different feel! A great story - glad to see it in this book, as it’s one of my favourite Nightjars. @imogenreid.bsky.social

Started the new Best British Short Stories late last night. Probably not a good idea to read ‘Torsos’ by Linden Hibbert right before bed. Deeply strange and pretty unnerving stuff. Great though.
