Imo, when this is over, the American government is going to need to be rebuilt. The Constitution of 1789 isn’t viable any more. A system where the government is formed from a coalition of multiple parties seems like a no-brainer to me. Getting rid of the presidency seems like another no-brainer.

The reason that “independent” number continues to grow is that younger folks do not feel EITHER party truly represents them. Both are dominated by old, white men who serve their rich donors. This should be a wake up call for Dems, and it’s also evidence a third party could in fact succeed.
So few Gen Z identify as Republican they had to put the number outside the bar on the chart

Yes. Failing to hold him (or anyone else of importance) to account for the attack on the Capitol in 2021 was an unforgivable error. And of course, the Supreme Court has enabled him at almost every opportunity, the most egregious example of which was placing him completely above the law.

One thing to note in my chart below is that I have Congress in the center, because, as usual, all the powers the President in this arena has are statutorily granted. They could fix it *today* if they wanted to, just like with tariffs, immigration, qualified immunity, etc., etc.
Not sure who needs to hear this, but the Insurrection Act isn’t the same as “martial law.” It authorizes the molitary to engage in civil law enforcement. And not clear that even then, whether they can enforce state criminal laws
