I just read @cmzparker5.bsky.social’s weekly newsletter, and found a bit of info I hadn’t seen mentioned anywhere else—the Trump administration is trying to cancel the contracts for the group that manages DC golf courses in order to take direct control.

Here’s hoping for fewer “delays due to lack of operator” alerts in the new year!
Another successful Metro graduation ceremony! This year, we’ve honored 500 graduates across all operations, and today, we celebrated the graduation of 65 new Metrobus operators. 🚌 👏 Welcome to the Metro family!

A week after the season's first substantial snowfall, forecasts indicate more snow may be on the way. In the meantime, we thought you'd enjoy these photos of a snowy Rock Creek Park.

Bugs! It’s day 11 of #ArtAdventCalendar and it’s time for more bugs. And plants, of course. I took inspiration from a fabric pattern and changed up the colours for this one.

Oh my god, they couldn’t just take a picture of a real letter? They had to have some generative AI thing make up a fake letter with gibberish and unrecognizable characters all over it?

The same agency whose boss is in Saudi Arabia this week?

DC Water is a mess.

Why does everyone say “sneak peak” instead of “sneak peek?” Do they think both words have to end in “eak?”

C’mon, let’s be honest. This Chavous guy is an absolute lightweight, and has zero chance in a citywide race against multiple candidates with RCV.

A good candidate knows the only way to make hay with your name is to be named some variant of “Michael Brown.” #DCision26
A big update here: Bonds told @whyblitz.bsky.social last night that she is indeed endorsing Kevin Chavous for this seat.

He doesn't seem to have filed for the at-large race, but this would be a big development if the son of a former councilmember is getting in with his boss' endorsement.
Big development for the at-large race: Only three candidates are running right now and I fully expect more will now jump in. It’s the end of an era in DC politics.

And not to be a broken record, but WAMU listeners/readers knew this was coming a while ago:

The people who complained about this project insist that the median is needed to prevent car collisions. Ironic that they so fervently believe a structural barrier is safer than paint… #bikedc
DDOT has changed the design plan for the protected bike lanes on Kansas Ave NW (which have already been under construction) to eliminate the structural protection, and add more paint.

The only law rich people recognize is "I should be able to do anything I want, and that includes killing you if I find you suspicious or I think it would be funny." This is why, throughout history, all societies at some point just give up and behead them.

Chatting w a friend about a Safe Routes to School article I'm writing and just astounded that all buses, walkers, bikers, and most car drop offs for a 450+ student PreK-5 school are being funneled down this single street with *sidewalk only on one side* and only a 1 way stop sign. What are we doing?
