the thing is that blowing up drug boats is just murder. no law licenses it. it is just war crimes. but to say out loud what the penalty for committing them is puts us in the position of accusing high government officials of capital crimes.

it is critically important to be able to say the obvious.

Democrats can retaliate against these GOP gerrymanders with new maps in Illinois, Maryland, Oregon, & Virginia.

They could flip 7 GOP seats to make up for this & new GOP maps in Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, & possibly soon Indiana.

Imposing costs is the only way to deter the GOP from doing this

There will be zero consequences. Bank on that.
It appears as if Ward 8 CM Trayon White has failed to submit required financial disclosure forms dating back to Jan. 2024. The Board of Ethics and Gov Accountability just posted the notice of violation today:

And for #ArtAdventCalendar day 2, some fishing lures 😅 Variations on this design have trended on social media for a while. I used creme polishes for the bases, some with gradients, and topped them all with a sheer holographic magnetic polish. Then I added details using more creme polishes.

Can anyone find an actual map of the A29 route? Trying to use the live chat on the website, and whoever/whatever I chatted with insists it's visible on the existing system map (but it also gave me a URL with a "ChatGPT" reference in it, so it doesn't seem reliable). www.wmata.com/initiatives/...

If only they said the same about bike lanes in public space.
December 5, 2025 at 12:33 PM
To their credit, DC’s transportation department says “a sidewalk on every street—it’s public space and no one gets a veto.”

Again, still feels weird as an old person to say a city does it better than its suburbs, but the flip happened some time ago and that’s the way it is.
Montgomery County officials say they won't build sidewalks near a future Purple Line station in Takoma Park because, among other things, neighbors say they're afraid of "stranger danger."

I've considered these months of unemployment a gift & blessing of sorts, because it meant I got to spend a LOT more time with Moshannon (and frequently had the honor of chauffeuring him to and from the vet). 😽

I miss him every single moment. I keep looking for him around the house, chasing shadows.

For people who think book banning isn't a big deal because even if they're not available in libraries and schools, you can still buy them--this is an elitist argument. Most kids ONLY have access to books from their library. Libraries ensure info access for all. Libraries are vital in democracies.
It's not a badge of honor when books get banned. It stinks for everyone. For the book creators, who worked hard to create something special that now won't be shared. The kids who miss out. The librarians and teachers who are treated like criminals. And taxpayers who have to pay for this nonsense.

Short answer: To appease the tech bros of Silicon Valley.

While detained, Elias was denied the care he needed and his health worsened. He died last week — just days before this ruling.

He shouldn’t just be pushed out as the House Democrats’ leader; he needs to be primaried out of his seat entirely. Just a complete waste of a deep blue seat.
Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."
