Nice. I can rename my headset here too.

Google VR and Apple VR headsets are the names of my personal computers and I demand that you address them as such. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

It was obvious when it happened. My specific words were "Well, yeah, well done, that's how I'd cut our knees out too"

In January, Tablecraft finally came out in Early Access after 7 years of development, and @vrgamerdude.bsky.social & @ianhamilton.net went hands-on with it on @uploadvr.com! To our surprise, it went on to become the most rated learning game of 2025 on the Meta Quest store! 💥

What an honor to commemorate our final four live shows of A Christmas Carol VR with this excellent write-up from @ianhamilton.net at @uploadvr.com -- we can't wait for everyone to go out with a bang with us!

Protecting its lenses in the VRChat can is still pretty tempting for Bigscreen Beyond 2. But that glow is inviting me to VR.

Bigscreen Beyond 2 sleeping reminds me of my iMac G3.

It costs one Quest 3S to replace the Index controllers.

Does Steam still have the knock knock feature that I’ve never used?
I propose “door detection” as a key need compared with Apple’s “people detection”. If you look up and to the middle in Vision Pro it activates a quick menu.

In SteamOS, the same cue could say “show me the doors of this room”.

A closed door is a solid signal to others and the headset.
SteamOS running on 2 local devices — Machine and Frame — could let you walk between different Layer 2s with layer 0 as a black and white transitional space you quickly walk thru.

You should be able to physically walk through layer 0 from Walkabout in Frame to Half-Life: Alyx in Machine.

If physically reality is layer 0 and we go to layer 1 in a VR headset, high resolution color passthrough breaks immersion dipping out to 0 again.

Layer 1 = SteamOS
Layer 2 =VRChat
Layer 3 = World

How often do you go 3 to 0?

And why do you not slip the headset off for the rare occasion you do?
I think the value of Steam Frame will become apparent when people experience instantaneous switching between local virtual reality destinations.

People pointing out Quest 3 instantaneous color passthrough as an advantage might be pointing out the technical overhead of a major disadvantage.

Buying a dock for the Index controllers in the year of our lord 2025 and installing base stations fresh into the corners and considering buying a pair of Index backup controllers.

If you were looking for easy ways to make the AI bubble a lot bigger co-opting Disney as investor to try and launch OpenAI For Kids seems a solid plan.

From top left clockwise we have Hopper, Ziggy, Kiki Underfoot and Batman.

They are all cats but Mr. Underfoot has an agenda.

I’m a big fan of computers with eink displays. What a great way to display something static.

Gimme the strongest Framework laptop imaginable with almost 100 GB of RAM & I still want this kind of display for its lid. Ideally reversible so it can face out or in.

Please excuse me from this jury room.

Back in my day, reading books from the shelf, that’s how we used to learn about other countries and cultures.

Now go rip out that guy’s spine properly.
I spent a bad amount of money on an original Mortal Kombat Trilogy codebook.

My children won’t have a physical bookcase with a set of encyclopedias but they will know the texture of achieving a fatality by looking it up in a book.
