All the supposedly progressive people saying 'Nigel Farage's racism doesn't matter. His fans love it'.

It matters whether the leader of the party leading all the opinion polls is an outright racist. It matters if he called black people 'wogs' and said 'gas them' to Jews. Not everything is a game

Powerful piece from High Country News about how heavy metal, culture and community are helping Blackfeet teens carry each other through grief and toward hope.

If you care about music, youth mental health and Indigenous voices, this is absolutely worth your time.

Lord Dubs of Battersea is quite right.

The proposed immigration changes are needlessly cruel and will do little to make our immigration system more humane, workable, safe or responsible. I strongly encourage the Govt to look again at proposals.

“How many refugees have been granted asylum in the UK?”

Most people overestimate the number - by a lot. With far-right figures spreading misinformation, it’s hard for the public to know the truth.

Watch the video to see just how wide the gap is between perception and reality.

yes. this is the reason. the reason is not "it is always right". the reason is "it will always be better to have the BBC than to be relying on Musk, Truss and X for news".
This perfectly encapsulates why we need the BBC

Labour timidity in defending the BBC is a great shame, but explicable. To defend them here you have to point out that notwithstanding the unfortunate edit Trump *did* incite the riots, having falsely claimed the election was fraudulent, and later lauding and pardoning the rioters.

The BBC belongs to Britain, not Trump.

Political leaders across the spectrum must defend it.

There's a round of GOTY discussion going around, and I realized that a lot of my favourite games this year have been absolute Sicko Picks.

So here's a few games I've loved so far in 2025, starting with a mild one: Babushka's Glitch Dungeon. A scrunkly lil' puzzle-metroidvania with so many fun verbs

Due to our policies, we've done it in 9.

In Brazil this week, we showed that cities are giving the world reason to hope when it comes to tackling the climate emergency.

What is the argument that Elon Musk should continue to be treated as a normal persona grata in the UK when he has issued a public call for pre-emptive political violence in our country & failed to retract it?

There could hardly be a lower bar & he and others need to know there are boundaries

and if you think that if we let the BBC get destroyed what would come in its place would be *more* left-wing... I think you haven't really been paying attention to how money works, how much money tech billionaires have, and what they're doing with it in the UK media landscape *already*.
