I am proud to say that MIT has rejected Trump's poison compact. MIT President Sally Kornbluth: "Therefore, with respect, we cannot support the proposed approach to addressing the issues facing higher education."

MIT is rejecting the "Compact."

From President Kornbluth's letter to the Dept of Education:
Photo of document saying "The document also includes principles with which we disagree, including those that would restrict freedom of expression and our independence as an institution. And fundamentally, the premise of the document is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone.

In our view, America’s leadership in science and innovation depends on independent thinking and open competition for excellence. In that free marketplace of ideas, the people of MIT gladly compete with the very best, without preferences. Therefore, with respect, we cannot support the proposed approach to addressing the issues facing higher education."

Come hang with us! I am going to show pictures of "Live, Laugh, Love" art and explain how Ella Wheeler Wilcox's poetry impacts your own personal and specific life.

Any college that signs this 'compact' is going to have put a big asterisk on the diplomas it confers--just like sports do for stats and records that are compromised by doping. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/u...

"Both graduation and retention rates have fallen since the takeover in 2023.... even as New College spends more than 10 times per student what the other 11 members of the State University System... a head count under 900 and a $118.5 million budget"
Spending Soars, Rankings Fall at New College of Florida
Student outcomes and rankings are slipping at the liberal arts college while spending is up. Critics believe the college is at risk of implosion, and some are calling for privatization.

We are not living through another run-up to the American Civil War. Secession and violence are, therefore, not the answer.

We are actually living through another Gilded Age.

So the answer is a third-party fight against corruption, monopolies, and imperialism: a working-class-based progressivism.
