The idea of charging a trans person with sexual assault for not disclosing their gender status marks a shocking new low in the rights and dignity of trans people in the UK. As others have pointed out, you're not even legally required to disclose if you have HIV (so long as you practice safe sex)

I was rather impressed by how @alastaircampbell2.bsky.social and #RoryStewart handled their discussion of the #SupremeCourt's ruling on #Transgender women on #TheRestIsPolitics. Alastair Campbell particularly was clear in his distaste for the Gender Critical triumphalism in response to the verdict.

The Supreme Court's decision regarding the definition of 'woman' denies the validity of trans identities and amounts to a license to discriminate against trans people. It also sets an appallingly dangerous legal precedent that will undoubtedly be leveraged to further undermine protections for them.

For those tempted to shame Keir Starmer for 'buttering up' Trump prior to Zelensky's ill-fated meeting, I think you're missing the point. Starmer's approach was so overblown it was comically transparent to everyone except Trump and it was the only chance of securing anything for Ukraine at all.
