If you're reading this and you think you don't know anyone affected by this stupid tariff trade war being waged for no reason, you're wrong. It's effecting our business. It's hurting me. We've been paying random, unexplained fees and tariffs on a few products made in the UK since the mess started a couple months ago. And now it's about to get so much worse. Before you scream, "Buy American!" At me, please note that we do. Hell, we make a bunch of our stuff at home, in KS. And the printing we haven't done ourselves in recent years was sent to one of 4 print shops - all US small businesses. But do you know where the vast majority of US paper comes from? Canada. Because they are a big country full of trees, and they're *right there* making loads of paper. Which used to be fine because we were friends and trading partners but now apparently it isn't so all of those small businesses have to spend more for paper. Which means they charge me more. And we use US suppliers whenever we can. Our bags and product packaging is produced by a company in CA we've used And we use US suppliers whenever we can. But where is all that plastic and paper and glue they use coming from? I have no idea. The wood displays we use for conventions were all made in the US by a company in New Hampshire. Again, when you contact them, you talk to an employee on site. But where do the materials come from? I don't know. Our shipping materials also come from a US company we've used for years. Boxes, tubes, padded envelopes... where do those materials come from? We get mugs from a small company in MIssouri, and some high quality paper from a shop in New York that shuts down even their website on holidays. And I could go on listing until you fell asleep reading this. I've already seen people saying that the big companies are going to get exceptions. But America isn't built on big companies. It's us, the small guys that no one in the government knows (or cares about) who keep the economy going. It's hundreds and thousands of small businesses interconnected and working together. Tell them to STOP THE TARIFFS. Please. And thanks.
