Did not expect one of the best paragraphs I’d read about baseball would come from an Irish newspaper

A tremendous World Series decided by the slimmest of margins. Not at all sure the better team won, but that’s baseball. The Blue Jays were fierce, and I’m a bit heartbroken for all the Jays fans in my feed and orbit — Toronto folks have been supportive and awesome to me going back over a decade.

The silliest part of the Drake/Kendrick feud is the presumption that Toronto likes Drake…
Which, outside of this thread, I won’t dwell on. I remember the days of like JP Ricardi and hoping for ‘meaningful baseball.’ Couldn’t have imagined anything this meaningful then
Genuinely not mad about any of it, but it was there for the taking. Didn’t need to go this deep
Yeah. That was killer. Pulling hot bats for matchups was not the play. And a couple of those pinch run calls were real bad. But there were still so many chances to finish it in the series.

It was a magical ride with all of you.

Our city, our home, our fans showed up on the grand stage...and we couldn't be prouder.
Taking Pages out of the lineup was actually pretty damaging.
(I’d watched most of the game but had fallen asleep, all I remember is the waking up)
I do wish the Jays had won though. I wanted to call my mom and wake her up to tell her the Jays won, the same way I woke up as a six year old to her scream when Joe Carter hit The home run.
Beating the Yankees was incredible (“Start speeding the news, bitches, we’re going!) , beating the Mariners in seven made me leave my body. This series was excruciating, but I’ve never loved the sport more.
Ninety-two and 93 didn’t happen out of nowhere. It was a buildup of years of good baseball. This team didn’t make it to a World Series on a fluke.
Reminded me what I love so much about watching baseball.
Oh, absolutely. But this wasn’t a sure thing blown; this was a couple of hits 6” further and were in a different universe.
Jays could have had this one, probably should have, but sometimes that’s the way it goes. Jays took the best (?) team in the league as deep as you can go, and nearly took it, twice.
I’d fallen off watching baseball for a while. But, this team was incredible. Guys you want to root for up and down the lineup. Cant wait until next year.
So fuckin close. Hard to be mad, but real gutted.
