I'm sitting here, across the pond, with absolutely no doubt that the 'Democrat Programs' that Trump will select to shut down, were put in place for the benefit of Americans of both stripes.
Trump wants to close them because they're Democrat programs, regardless of how they might improve lives. TWAT.

What's sad about 'For what it's worth' is the fact that many of the 'love-in', anti-state-opression peacemongers supporting it and resonating with it have ground through the system and are the very people oppressing the USA today.

The EU WOULD have us back but... they'll want to know that the next UK govts won't overturn our rejoining; theyll want to see a substantial majority of UK citizens supporting a return; and they'll want to see eye-watering penalties in place if we renege on the deal. We must agree these conditions.

Any Americans who are relying on the law, the constitution, the courts, their representatives & senators to fix the appalling state of governance in the US are deluding themselves.
He's not going, even if there IS a vote & he's voted out. It is going to take extraordinary means to oust him.

Part of the reason for the downturn is that water companies don't buy nearly as many chemicals as they did for water treatment on the basis that the cost far outweighs the fines imposed for pollution (which they don't pay anyway). More money for bonuses & dividends.

Who benefits from the abolition of stamp duty land tax?

The first answer: people buying very expensive homes. Average saving for someone buying a £10m+ home is £1.7m. Average saving for someone buying a £250k-£500k home is £5k.

I was quite surprised, given the amount of negative press that would have you believe that this government is the worst we’ve had yet.

Under the last Tory Govt, elected in 2019, of 42 Manifesto Pledges, only
2 were delivered in 5 years.
Under the current Labour Govt, elected in 2024, of 83 Manifesto Pledges, 57 are delivered (18), on track (19), or in process (20).
