Deeply curious what happened during Hegseth's show-cause board to make him hate law and lawyers so much. He was an officer: he had TDS counsel to rep him (or he paid someone). The trial counsel must have just wrecked his defense.

This seems topical.
It still kills me that in his confirmation hearing, no one asked for an example of a war crime he thinks troops should be able to commit.

Holy crap, yes. One thing I see from both pro se litigants and counsel are terrible arguments made to "beat me" rather than to win. I don't really feel sorry for either, since a pro se litigant is guilty of arrogance, and the lawyer is guilty of showboating.

I have never received a text asking me to phone bank, to distribute flyers, to door-knock, or to let me know when my next district Dem meeting is. I have, however, received roughly 5 million texts asking me to donate money or sign a bullshit poll (so far today). 1/4

Question for anyone who practiced crim law in fed court: wouldn't this mean Halligan submitted fraudulent documents to the court? Wouldn't this be a potential criminal violation, not just a bar violation?

Why isn't there a restaurant where the only items are things sold at Cosco? It'd have menu items like "street tacos" that are straight from the freezer bins. We'd all know what we were getting and where it came from. The extra cost would be to put it on a nice plate and not having to do the dishes.

In all the conversations Democrats have about how to appeal to white men, has anyone considered that maybe the problem is white men? Liberal, multicultural, progressive politics is good. Country music is not.

I generally don't comment when people write what we should do when MAGA is over, since I usually agree and don't want to nitpick, but my sense is that the information environment is task #1. We can't be free if billionaires own all the media.

Stuff like this is why guys like Bob Chipman should not be lumped in with YouTube reactors. There is a serious difference in knowledge, analysis and approach.
As someone who (sort of) does the not-fascist version of this for a career, something I've realized is that a lot of these guys are genuine descendants of Andrew Breitbart and think moral/political allegory is just a rhetorical trick you can just do a parts-swap on and make it work just as well.

I'm only a few pages into Piranesi, but so far it's beautiful, imaginative, tense, engrossing, and pretty much perfect. This is, I guess, what it looks like when someone works on their manuscript for 10 years.
