Something I've learned from advocating for my children and myself is that a lot of the protections of laws are based on the victims having the energy, money, and time to sue if they're not followed, which is why the law fails us again and again.

In theory this is true. There are protections in place to prevent discrimination

In practice they don’t work. Especially with rising fascism and eugenicist sentiment

Oh, it is! I took a class on biomechanical devices just for interest. And while I've got less hardware than you, my ortho surgeon is a great sport with all my questions and what ifs around the "remodelling"

A useful way to have this conversation is to talk about clean water. We don't rely on boil-water advisories as our only tool. We clean the water at source. Why wouldn't we do the same with air? Mask mandates are boil water advisories: stop gaps while we upgrade HVAC, upper room UV, etc. Why not?
