Today I learned that if you go to the doctor for an annual physical and they ask about your health and you mention any health issue, they can bill you for a second visit on top of your annual for which there should be zero co-pays.

With SB 770 @pnhp.bsky.social supported the very incrementalism that allows health insurance cos. to profiteer in CA that it rejects nationally. PNHP’s wrongheadedness here would be farcical if not so sad and ironic.

White middle-class leadership of PNHP has shown their vulnerability to neoliberal scams pushed by opportunists who work for private insurer interests like Michael Lighty of Healthy CA Now. A common sign of this is the failure of these parties to address systemic healthcare inequality in earnest.

I hope @theguardian.com digs a little deeper into @pnhp.bsky.social and why they chose not to push for the CA single-payer bill AB2200 last year. CA single-payer would lead to Medicare For All. Just like it happened in Canada! Instead PNHP fought for the nothing burger SB770.

Last year PNHP had the opportunity with CalCare AB2200 to take a big step to make national single-payer real, they backed away to give room to insurance friendly incrementalism they now say doesn’t work (SB770).
