I wonder if Trump’s historically ignorant “Columbus Day” stunt while claiming that he “loves Italians” has anything to do with his tariffs likely to cause the price of pasta to more than double in 2026.

PS, We’re not a monolith. Tons of us are against Columbus Day.

So just looking at it big picture: If a health secretary with no medical qualifications declared a shot to be “deadly.” And then the President who appointed said health secretary got said shot voluntarily, you would conclude, at the very least, that they’re full of shit, right?

A few months ago when my wife and I adopted Luna and Livorno, we had a questionnaire at the rescue. One question was our take on declawing and if we would ever do it. I wrote “declawing should be illegal.” Well, now in CA it is. Gotta recognize the victories, for sanity’s sake.

1. Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize, and went on to drop a ton of bombs.

I spoke to a friend and colleague who was participating in the general strike in Italy (interview will be airing on @statuscoupnews.bsky.social soon!) She has been in communication with her friends in Gaza. They are celebrating. Hopefully the ceasefire will be legit this time.

This article reports that hundreds of scholars—"the vast majority" of those surveyed—say the US has moved into authoritarianism. It then gives equal space to a single outlier who says the source of the expert consensus is that those scholars "are coming from the political left." Incredible.
