Late 30s. Photographer, writer, composer. Woe-betide-thee prophet of the present day. He/him. Toronto. These images are portents of doom: missives from the hidden world within our world. Feel shame and terror, please. But boost them if you like them.

Affinity has a "big announcement" and I can't help but feel it will be terrible news, because there isn't another kind of news anymore.
The way we are all so desperate to remain on instagram in the art world: We are all just walking around living in an oppression machine because it gives out slightly more sugar pills than shocks—but never once medicine.
horror homes.

Toronto. April 6th, 2025.
Traitors to ourselves, we cling to the familiarity of the horror, but we are no less horrified.

A photo of art model Alexia Flux by photographer Rab Townsend. The model is a nude woman with shoulder-length dark hair and blunt bangs framing her face. She is posing against a smooth gradient background of indigo. She is cast in vibrant orange, magenta, and blue light. Her hands are clasping her opposite shoulders, arms crossing her chest. Her back is tensed, stretching her torso back. Her gaze is cast to the right of frame, while her mouth is open in a silent scream. Her expression suggests a nearby horror, out of frame. The image is meant to evoke the ravages of living in fear upon the body.

You shouldn't *have* to reinstall your programs, if you're just upgrading, vs. fresh installing (I didn't, anyway).

Toronto. April 4th, 2025.
We are ever tired of the ritual, but there is always one more weighty gesture, heavier than fatigue.

A photo of art model Flos Lunae by photographer Rab Townsend. The model is a nude woman with long, light brown hair, caught in motion, as it blows around her face. She is posing against a smooth gradient background of blue-green. Her skin is cast in vibrant orange, magenta, and blue light. Her hands are held tentatively and plaintively in front of her chest. Her lips are parted somewhat, and her piercing blue eyes are fixed to the left of frame in a soft, pleading expression. The mood image suggests an invitation made in a state of exhaustion, perhaps a soft plea for relief that the subject knows she will not get.
Y’know, just watching all the affordable Rush tickets disappear before my eyes faster than i can click them.
It doesn’t take any more savvy than joining bluesky did, if you’re just joining someone else’s instance. If you’re trying to run your own, it can be a bit much. The hardest part is just deciding which instance to join.

One can only resist the inevitable for as long as it is prepared to allow.

A photo of art model Carly Lundy by photographer Rab Townsend. The model is a nude woman with dark, wet hair that she is pulling back behind her head with both arms. Her right arm is bent forward, gripping the hair on the top of her head while her left hand rests on the back of her head. She is posed against a deep blue background. Her body is oriented toward the left of frame, as she bends forward slightly, flexing her abdomen. Her skin is oiled and cast in vivid magenta and cyan light, creating bright highlights. Her eyes are downcast and her lips are slightly parted, with an expression of melancholy and discomfort. The image suggests a struggle with an inevitable pain for which the model feels unprepared.
I absolutely agree that the NDP has moved too far toward the centre, just as the LPC has moved further right. I just meant that i saw her platform and it looked like the NDP's. Do I wish the NDP's was better? Very much.
When i heard her platform, i thought “wrong party” but i suspect she’s one of those who thinks she’d never get elected if she officially switched—and she may be right.

A photo of art model Astrid Kallsen by photographer Rab Townsend. The model is a woman with dark red hair, posing against a purple background. She is wearing a sheer white dress, through which her nipples are visible. She has draped the back of the dress over her head like a veil. Her gaze is directly into the camera, with a cold expression. Her hands are held over her chest, and her right index finger is stretched toward her collarbone. Her skin is cast in magenta and blue light. The mood of the image is ominous, as if the model is the vengeful ghost of a drowned bride. A photo of art model Astrid Kallsen by photographer Rab Townsend. The model is a woman with dark red hair that is wet and clinging to her face and neck. She is posing against a purple background. She is wearing a sheer white dress, through which her nipples are visible. She has let the dress fall open, exposing her shoulders and clavicle. Her left arm is dropped to her side, while her right crosses her torso, with fingers gripping her left elbow. She is hunched forward somewhat, but her head is tilted back with closed eyes and parted lips. Her skin is cast in magenta and blue light. The mood of the image is ominous, as if the model is the vengeful ghost of a drowned bride.
“Fantastic Question—It’s ‘cause you shit sticky!”
I was really surprised when I joined that there weren't an endless supply of fart jokes on the timeline. I attempted to fill the void, but I think eventually, every user gets the toots out of their system.

It is a duty so great that we cannot but plead to be unburdened, but the demand was ours.

A photo of art model Daria Sells by photographer Rab Townsend. The model is a nude woman with long and wavy red hair. Her hair is caught in motion, blown by a heavy wind. She is posed against a smooth gradient background of turquoise. Her skin is cast in shades of magenta, cyan, and blue, casting shadows and highlights. Her hands are resting on her thighs, with her left arm straight, and her right arm bent outward somewhat. Her gaze is turned to the left of frame, with an expression of distress, anguish, or pleading. Her skin is covered in goosebumps. The mood of the image suggests that the model is facing an expectation, the fulfillment of which will cause her great suffering, and she is pleading, despite knowing she must comply.
I think, because a lot of the people eager to move right now are artists, they tend to go straight for Mastodon•ART, discover that it has very strict policies, and find themselves feeling alienated.
People are always put off of mastodon because of its culture of aggressive moderation, but don't realize that they can change that culture by joining it en masse.
Yes, my last post where an appeal was successful was 18 days ago. And those were after another long period of unsuccessful appeals. I’m hoping they’re just understaffed and not unofficially changing policy.
You're not even that old, you know! you're just older than you were.
I’d say “it’s bluesky, only more complicated”, but really: bluesky is mastodon, only less complicated and more susceptible to corporate and american political interests.

I know people get shy, especially when interacting with NSFW, but if you are going through a person's account and like more than 10 posts in the row, you should at least leave one (1) nice lil comment on a post
Actually, now I'm starting to think bluesky staff has created bots to say this stuff, to discourage people from leaving.
A lot of “my shit doesn’t stink” talk from bluesky users, announcing they will never ever use mastodon, and like… mastodon is probably fine without you.
