Thank everyone for picking up the book! Please leave it a star review on Amazon, it really does help me out. Your support has helped me do many wonderful things in the past few years, I cannot be thankful enough. <3 #WEDReads

"[Walt Disney] didn't like the idea of telling stories in this medium. It's not a story telling medium. But it does give you experiences. You experience the idea of pirates. You don't see a story that starts at the beginning and ends with, 'By golly, they got the dirty dog.' It wasn't that way."

It's actually from an interview that he gave with The E Ticket in the late 90s. It's also extremely stripped of its context. I think that Walt Disney and the old guard animators simply thought of 'story' in a different sense than we do. #WEDReads

Oh, and another thing that I was delighted to set the record straight on was that the PotC ride system did not evolve out of the small world ride system. #WEDReads

Disney history is full of lots of little tiny inaccuracies and I was very proud that I was able to present probably the most accurate version of the events that has yet been assembled. Def couldn't do that in an official history book. #WEDReads

I feel that the analysis of the Disneyland ride is a pretty strong heart of the book and it was probably the easiest part of it to write. But I'm very much about cultural context and I was secretly delighted that I managed to delay getting to Walt Disney until page 53 #WEDReads

The Matterhorn Circulation East lighting project is done and the new lamps look good. Some Tomorrowland aesthetic and still a bright light for the Submarine Lagoon.

I'll miss the old vintage light poles, but these look great.

Some of the Pirates cave scenes have gotten refreshed lighting and they look great (hard to photograph here).

Less harsh for sure.

Parking lot is half full on a lot of levels. This is bullshit. They just don’t want to fully staff the park.

@cegoodman2.bsky.social That reversible TRON jacket (light suit on one side/flynns on the other) is one of the coolest pieces of TRON merch I've seen, and it sold out before I could hit Order. :(

the thing is that "less blockout days" doesn't really matter, because they can directly control the amount each day, so they can give you more dates, but just set the buckets really low and effectively make you not be able to use it

just look at the calendar for the next two weeks!

Interesting to see them shuffle the lower tiers, admit that June and July is not as busy as it used to be, which now makes the upper tiers even LESS of a value.
News: The #Disneyland Resort is discontinuing the Enchant Key and introducing a new option: the Explore Key. This new Key will offer similar benefits to the Enchant Key but offer some weekday availability in June and July.

I have long felt that Josh will be the CEO and knows that you don't do guest-forward UNTIL you are the new CEO to gain goodwill with customers. This was the Iger card. He announced the DCA redo as a brand new CEO. Josh is the problem, but he knows some answers, and those will come once he's CEO.

The various Pixar Play and Holiday with Santa is popular, so I think this is a good move for interactivity for the little ones and Bluey.

I miss Santa at Elias and Co, but still love the Santa's Village vibe of Santa's Holiday Visit. Very SoCal.
