As someone who loves the exploration aspect of Hollow Knight, the breakable walls don't bother me.

Their existence gives me an incentive to really appreciate the art & design. You find a lot of cool world building elements & artistic flourishes when you're checking rooms for hidden areas.

Like, in the game's universe, what is happening when Hornet bumps into Lace that causes damage? Like, if she isn't currently attacking, why is there a hitbox?
I can kind of understand that running into Groal the Great deals damage because at least he's big, but even that seems kind of weird.

My only major nitpick is that, in a game that goes out of its way to find cohesion between narrative and gameplay, to the point that several skills seemingly cost silk just because Hornet uses silk in the animation, it's so jarring to have contact damage with certain enemies and bosses.

This is not to say the game is perfect, but any problems I have with it are outweighed by the greatness of everything else.

Gameplay is responsive, varied, and fun.
Art direction is inspiring on a visual and auditory level.
Even the characters and story are phenomenal, which I did not expect.

Huh. I never found that room lol. I thought you needed to pogo your way up.

The only exceptions are that one flea near high halls that seems impossible without the Reaper Crest or Silk Soar, and the Fleatopia minigame where you have to pogo like 50 times in a row lol.
I tried that game like 20 times with Hunter, then switched to Reaper, and got it first try.

I was expecting the platforming to be easier with Reaper, but it was about the same IMO.
Most of the game seems designed with the assumption that you'll have the Hunters Crest, so a lot of the jumps are more awkward to land with Reaper, even if the pogo has a bigger hitbox.

When we get DLC I plan to experiment more with the other crests.
Architect, Witch, and Shaman all seem really cool, but they all come so late in the game that you can't really do a full run with them.

I could see Wanderer being good with the right tool loadout, but Reaper really seems like it's meant for beginners.
All the attacks are wider arcs so it's harder to miss & the special ability lets you heal more often; neither of which is beneficial if you're already good at striking & dodging.

Also, after getting 100% with the Hunters Crest, I decided to switch it up with this playthrough and try the others.

Switched to Wanderers crest as soon as I could, but the short range really hurts, especially against aerial enemies.

Eventually switched to Reaper, but the DPS is noticeably low.
