#Crustmas, you say??
We made scientific gingerbread cookies for @unibergen.bsky.social's #AcademicGingerbreadVillage (exhibited at the natural history museum!), and of course some of them featured #invertebrates. Here's a glorious #HermitCrab made by the participants of our #Bryozoa workshop

This was such a fun and good symposium - join the next one if you can!
The Bergen Bathysphere Symposium took place this week. We had a strong crew from CDeepSea including Hassan, Petra, Renee, and Morgane who helped make it all happen. 🙌 Big shoutout to Christian, Maja, Mari, David and Morgane for leading inspiring workshops and discussions! 💬 (📸Bergen Bathysphere)

🌊 Phylum Friday: Bryozoa! 🌊

These small colonial organisms are usually found encrusting rocks or blending in with algae. However, many of the species found in New England are invasive, and have become a concern for intertidal and subtidal ecosystems as they encrust and out-compete native species.

Hey #WormWednesday, this is relevant to our interest!
Check out the free(!), fabulous invertebrate ebook, plan on contributing to the next, and marvel at the stunning cover @franzanth.bsky.social has made (which I *need* as a poster or book cover or something)
Here's the #InverteFest art book August 2025 cover posted in full - how many species can you identify in this piece? I'll post the answer later when I have the time to annotate the image.

Ant Lion that we found hanging out in @crytzerfry.bsky.social garage. These insects are mostly known for their predatory larva which build sand pits to trap passing insects, like ants. Ecology of adults is understudied and not well know.

In 1907, Kumataro Ito was hired to illustrate the nudibranchs collected on the Steamer Albatross' Philippine Expedition. 490,000 specimens were collected & stored in ethanol.
