Fuck the NHS.
Especially if they make you feel that way.
You don't need that. You need community.

So, so many of us cannot be diagnosed by others because of a variety of circumstances. But when you know, you know. You know yourself.
You don't need any validation of others to feel the relief that "the diagnosed" feel when you can find the truth of your own self.

Hold on, first of all, hugs (if you want them)
Secondly, you are so worthy of life, and love, and very able to accomplish worthwhile things, I am sure of it.
Thirdly, I hope you've heard before now that self-diagnosis is completely valid, and I hope you believe that.

#autistic joy today: my cat, purring happily on my chest. The warmth, the rumble, the absolute delight of a little creature choosing me, imbuing me with her love.

I've been considering asking for accommodations, but I haven't been sure what, or how it would be perceived. This article feels inspiring!

"Every workplace, like every autistic person, is different; the challenges experienced and adjustments required will vary. However, the starting point for all workplaces is ... a willingness to create spaces where we can all work safely and comfortably."

That is the best insult I've read today, thank you.

You know, that's a really excellent point. People can be autistic without "obviously appearing autistic" and then make little autistic humans because their genes did what genes do.

I definitely have trouble getting words out at times. I start speaking and I just can't find the next word. I can picture it or see adjacent to it but not the exact word I want. This is especially frustrating because I really value being accurate and precise.

"...and the process of decision-making was reported to be exhausting, overwhelming, and anxiety-provoking."

Yeah, this is super relatable.

"The results indicated that compared w/their neurotypical peers, the participants w/ASD more frequently reported difficulties in decision making. Decisions that needed to be made quickly, or involved a change of routine, or talking to others, were experienced as particularly difficult, ..."

How do you explain people who've never been vaccinated who are autistic?

A reasonable boundary is always something that you can do. It’s about what I will and will not do.

Autistic people usually can’t guess what others are thinking or feeling. It helps to say what you want, think or feel directly.
“If they cared, they’d know” is a myth. Caring isn’t mind-reading. Say what you mean. #autism #autistic #autismquotes #autismquoteoftheday #marciaeckerd #marciaeckerdphd

If you sometimes can't bear the sensory transition from non-showering to showering and back again, you still deserve to be clean, if you want to. Keep an inexpensive bottle of witch hazel around and swipe your armpits with it; put on fresh deodorant. Voila, you are not stinky.

Boss, we’ve got a problem. Users don’t want this stuff! They keep wanting to turn it off, even when we keep turning it back on!
