If we’re talking about ‘generational investment’, Canada needs faculty positions for postdocs.

There have been virtually no cog psych/neuro jobs in the past three years.

My sister lives in #Evanston, IL and feels the severity of the situation is not well reported nationally. The local paper interviewed residents after the Halloween assaults, and she says that matches what she's seen herself and heard from neighbors.

Community members describe confrontation with federal agents - Evanston RoundTable
Evanston community clashes with federal immigration authorities after car crash. Residents detained, pepper spray used. Mayor demands review.

Also the linkedin bro speech pattern is very off putting for engagement
How to even use social media for promoting research when many people are saturated with social media and online engagement? I have way less desire to post here than I did on Twitter back in the day.

Canadian researchers should be aware the there is a motion before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Research to force Tricouncils to hand over disaggregated peer review data on all applications:
Applicant names, profiles, demographics
Reviewers names, profiles, comments, and scores
On November 26th noon ET, @complexbrains.bsky.social will present her talk titled " Aligning Brains and Language Models: Toward a NeuroAI Framework for Brain-Grounded Language Understanding". The project combined @cneuromod.ca dataset 🧠🧑‍🤝‍🧑 and AI 🤖.
On November 5th at noon Eastern Time, I will be talking about my research from my roots in mind wandering 💭 and functional connectivity 🧠 to current work in biomarker 🩺, and how I will connect the two through neuroinformatics and data science 🚀
We have two exciting talks at CRIUGM in November!
Details attached 👇 Remote attendance via Zoom available! Scan the QR codes in the flyers to get the link! Please repost and join the talk!

New preprint 🌟 Psychology is core to cognitive science, and so it is vital we preserve it from harmful frames. @irisvanrooij.bsky.social & I use our psych and computer science expertise to analyse and craft:

📢 Thrilled to share our paper is out now in @natcomms.nature.com

Shared computations underlie how we acquire actions that are mutually beneficial, instrumentally harmful (benefits self at the expense of others), altruistic (benefit others at the expense of self), or mutually costly

Social media algorithm is really fucked. I just saw the announcement that "Monday the gym would be closed ". It's Wednesday now. We need to bring back the 2010s.
Sam is awesome! Cant wait to see this lab taking off!
I'm recruiting PhD students to join my new lab in Fall 2026! The Shared Minds Lab at @usc.edu will combine deep learning and ecological human neuroscience to better understand how we communicate our thoughts from one brain to another.

Data only shows associations. Turning those into claims about mechanism or causation? That requires a Rosetta Stone of prior knowledge + theory. Resting-state fMRI is purely observational; correlation is its currency. From this, plenty of "theoretical toys" about brain function can be built...

Do you ever wish you could just use python to pull together the files and code for running FSL's randomise? Me too! I made this: github.com/jmumford/ran... It will even replace the numbers in the file outputs with contrast names of your choosing (and replace corrp with 1minusp).
GitHub - jmumford/randomise-prep: Generate design matrices, contrasts, and scripts to set up FSL randomise analyses.
