Canadian wearily posting into the void. Resisting the word "skeet". My posts do not represent my employer. Mum, cat owner, ND. She / her. I do not "follow back" automatically and if I don't know you in some way, you will be blocked.

when my oldest realized Santa was a pleasant fiction he suddenly said "wait... does this mean you're the Tooth Fairy too?" and when i said yes, he gave me a huge hug and said "oh mum, but you HATE TEETH!"

the things we do for our kids! but "keeping their teeth forever" is not one of those things.

Parents fall into one of two categories:

1. throw them away immediately b/c EW GROSS MOUTH-STONES
2. save them all so someday their adult children can find them, be grossed out, and throw them away immediately

There are no other options.

The whole "innocent bystanders" tag had my eyes rolling. YES, THIS IS HOW BOYCOTTS WORK.

Imma be real: as soon as I heard his name I knew it was going to be ugly

A super-tight strike zone that moves center position every inning doesn't play well with finesse pitching or working counts

M does ours now. He found a YouTube video and follows those steps - makes a big difference. He learned some tricks that make it go a lot smoother!

Uncovered, but drop your oven rack down a step below middle

And yeah, you have to baste if you want that colour, plus it keeps the breast very moist

I just glanced at the clock and was truly shocked it isn't 10:30pm

I'm beached

TG was a lot of fun but it's wild how quickly my social battery gets drained these days

That guy has been an obnoxious attention-seeking twat all season

I'm the opposite. I don't know too many people who like both!

Butter the bird generously all over, and under the skin on the breast. Roast at 400F for 30min, then turn it down to 325F and go 13 min / lb, basting thoroughly every half hour.

I make the stuffing the day before, and bake it for an hour at 325F the day of in a covered dish.

Whereas I got the last package of fresh sage at the store on Saturday and let out a barbaric yawp of victory because I do not like anything else

I'm pretty rigid about the traditional holiday foods, I'll admit this

This may be the best-looking turkey I've ever done, in my 35 years of roasting turkeys...
Turkey in a foil pan roasted to perfection

Some people just want to watch the world burn, I guess

I'm learning so much about people and some of it has me shook

Yes to coleslaw but no to pickles

A beaten egg in the stuffing

WHAT IS HAPPENING
hannahr.bsky.social
FWIW I've heard "dressing" and "stuffing" used interchangeably my whole life so I don't think there's a right or wrong thing to call it

Some of you think summer savory is better than sage and I just feel like I don't know you people at all
hannahr.bsky.social
I love pickles, any and all kinds of pickles

In fact I kind of forgot to procure a third pickle for my pickles serving dish and now I'm bummed

Have you got spare pickles

I did my usual "go ahead and invite a friend!" thing and now at 2:30pm I'm having a little regret because all I want is a nap

But it'll be fine, once everything is on the table I'm sure

And I did have more help this year

We have so few actual stats here and it's pretty gross really

Dressing is a bread / sage / onion mix but I bake it separately. Inside the bird are aromatics: onion, apple, lemon, sage, and a cinnamon stick

And I butter the living hell out of that bird, both on top of and under the skin
