A weird reaction to this trade. Habs are 30th in the NHL in goals allowed per game in a 32 team league.
They just brought in one of the best defensive centres in the league. The top lines have positive metrics and the back lines have horrific metrics.
He’s here for d-zone starts vs best players.

The Habs add Danault and still have:
- Dach
- Newhook
- Laine
- Guhle
to add back into the lineup. Getting those guys back over the next few months will feel like adding via trade.
Sure there may be more injuries… but this is why depth is so important for playoff teams.

Danault’s return would have been approved by Suzuki. I’m sure there’s a story there - Kent would have consulted him first.
The trade’s impact is greatest for the Captain. Nick Suzuki no longer has to play as much PK or take defensive zone faceoffs.
& Evans can slot back to 4C.
