Somehow, I lived almost three years without being aware of the existence of an absolute masterpiece of story, animation, and especially world building, that is Scavenger Reign.

Matt found the original "brainstorming document" for FTL -
Written on a big roll of paper in his apartment in Shanghai over beers.

You can see a lot of the foundational ideas there, but this was before we even pictured having ship-to-ship combat.

TFW you find a new song that unraveled a whole new kind of music to you. It felt like finding a soul mate. You expect the rest of the album to simply flip your entire concept of music on its head, only to find it's the only song of this type in that artist's discography. Also he died 20 years ago 🪦

Gothic (by Piranha Bytes) is such a significant part of Polish gaming culture and identity that we often joke it's a Polish game. Some guy named Tadeusz Czomber wrote his art academy thesis in jewelry design titled "Ulu-Mulu. Gothic Saga as a cultural phenomenon forming identity". Some photos 👇

In those few farming games I played (e.g. SV, Coral Island) I feel like their core system of farming itself is just too basic. Usually you rush sprinkler, slap fertilizers so you can do less farming in your farming game and have more time for other side activities like dungeons, fishing and dating.

It's been a while since I was this excited about a new book, but here it is. The third part of Heaven's Vault story, The Flood, by @jon.inkle.co just arrived.

I'm oblivious of any lore behind Sonic, but if he is super fast, why would he race in a car? 🤔 Is he just giving others a fair chance by slowing himself down in a vehicle? 🤔 I've been thinking about it since yesterday's show 🤔

Do you like interactive fiction?

I bring you Thousand Lives.

It's set in communist Poland. There’s no do-overs or restarts. It’s an email-based story. There are six chapters and each day you will receive a new one, based on the choices you made earlier.

Another curious place I found is this unfinished castle. Originally it was meant to be a single house, but the owner had an additional idea... but no official permit for that "slight deviation" from the plan. Battles in courts lasted a very long time, but eventually (afaik) it was abandoned #urbex

First time I spotted one I was awestruck. It felt like I got in @inkle.co's Heaven's Vault world. Mysterious symbols could be found on walls, ceilings of underground passages, behind vines, back of bus stops. Even on two portal like concrete pipes that somehow ended in a forest (??). Gdynia, Poland

Is "taking a risk" and rapid growth the only answer to having a load of money from previous successes? Seems counterintuitive to take a plunge here. I really admire studios that decide not to grow right after their first success, because that means having a safety cushion for the future.
