It is beyond surreal that at the same time I was at the congressional building to fight for SNAP and Medicade Nancy Mace and Ronny Jackson were calling for my and my community's forced institutionalization and almost no one is talking about that.

Dear trans family,

We are not defined by the actions of an individual. You are not at fault, and you are not the problem.

You are loved. Stay safe.

Two things i wish more people understood:

1) it is okay to have a kink (or even several)

and

2) it is not okay to force others to engage with your kink(s).

Clear, enthusiastic consent is the foundation of a healthy sexual ethic.

I meant to post this yesterday, but the news of Andrea Gibson's passing was still raw. I let the poem linger a bit beneath gray skies. I am thinking of Andrea—their work, their reverent irreverence, their passion. This poem is dedicated to them and to everyone seeking a bit of hope.

Andrea Gibson (they/them), award-winning poet, activist, and Colorado’s Poet Laureate, died on July 14, 2025, at the age of 49. They passed peacefully at home.
Colorado poet laureate Andrea Gibson dies at 49, leaves ‘Love Letter from the Afterlife’
In the months leading up to their death, Gibson, who was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer in 2021, had been writing about mortality, joy, and the intimacy of impermanence.

In celebration of #InternationalNonbinaryPeoplesDay, we're proud to honor the incredible diversity within the gender spectrum! ✨

Respecting & recognizing the nonbinary community is vital. If you are nonbinary, remember: your identity is valid, & you deserve to express yourself authentically! 💪🏳️‍🌈

Today is International Nonbinary People's Day. As a genderfluid femme, i fall under the nonbinary umbrella. So, just a friendly reminder that nonbinary people are not limited to just androgyny. We come in as much variety as women and men do.

Today, my gender is the moment just before the butterfly chooses its wings; it is stolen fairy fruit—sweet, tart, and flavorful. My pronouns are moonlight and moth, and I perform the scared task of pulling gender taut to play like a fiddle.

In the echo of post-WWII silence, trans and queer lives were forced into shadows—unseen, unspoken, unreal. Now, that silence is returning. Not by accident, but by design.

Rights rolled back.
Online slander and hate sanctioned.
Physical spaces shuttered; digital ones poisoned.

Beloveds, this is, without doubt, the best poem i have written. Rooted in the grounded imagery of Audre Lorde's poetics and the indecent theology of Marcella Althaus-Ried, it queers and transgresses boundaries.

My insurance won’t cover the meds my doctor prescribed unless they get the diagnosis. So now the pharmacy’s askin’ the doctor to send a diagnostic code so insurance can decide if it’s a diagnosis they feel like supportin’. Whit a load o’ mince.

The second poem in my Liturgical Poetry collection. This one is a bit darker and runs towards the Confessional. In fact, Anne Sexton’s spirit haunts the verses.
Saint me, Or Don't
Lately i’ve been praying to the saint in the vanity mirror— eyeliner crooked, halo bent like a wire hanger hung from a motel bulb. i anoint myself in yesterday’s sweat and call it sacred. i’ve failed ...

This is the first in a new collection of poetry and my first paid subscriber post (more will follow). “Trick of the Light” reclaims old tales as living spells, transforming fear into nourishment and inheritance into liberation.

Minnesota was the first - by several years - state to consider gender identity as a protected class against discrimination back in 1993.

They've had trans friendly school sports policies for over a decade.

This is a place where the anti-trans folks' fight is uphill.
Up a steep hill.

This is likely the end of gender-affirming care for all transgender and nonbinary people of any age in the US. Mind you, cisgender people will still have their gender-affirming care covered.
