I emailed the president of Publishers Weekly yesterday, and will be emailing multiple other people. PLEASE take the time to do this if you can. 🙏 Contact info is easily available on their website.

Publishers Weekly is still doubling down on this awful AI workshop. Keep the emails and the comments coming. Make sure they know how much we're all against this.
AI isn’t coming to publishing—it’s already here. PW’s new AI for Publishing Bootcamp gives teams the tools and workflows to keep up.

First session is Feb 11. Early Bird pricing is now open.

"We don't want to be Luddites --" brother, Luddites were opposed to bosses concentrating wealth by using technology to make inferior product with warehouses fulls of starving exploited child labor. You don't have to wear the team jersey but respect the game.

Just gonna drop this here. Amazon is forcing a new AI feature on authors whose books are available on Kindle. This is a petition to give us the choice to opt out, because currently, we cannot.

Hard no to this: French publisher Harlequin has told translators that their work will now be done by AI. They can ‘revise’ AI translations at much lower rate. It’s a subsidiary of Harper Collins so treat this as a test for rollout elsewhere
"Bradage de la traduction, plan social invisible : Harlequin passe à l’IA"

Faites tourner, parce qu'il va falloir se battre encore plus. :/

Sent my email feedback about the "AI conference." You can, too!
Publishers Weekly is sponsoring an AI for Publishing Bootcamp on their PW Learning platform. This is so disgusting and unacceptable.

There's an email on the site. I've just sent them a message urging them to cancel this workshop series immediately. You can do the same.

This is in reference to that Publishers Weekly "AI is here, get used to it, peons" workshop. Who could have predicted that the guy doing it would be on the board of an AI firm?
The doing this workshop is an author, independent book publisher "also serves on the boards of the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) and the AI firm, Inkbloom."

BTS: Matthew on his second day of work is a mood. 😂

He did not approve of this set.

We had to go with less books in the final product. SGJ, Alma Katsu, & Matthew's biggest fan, Gwendolyn Kiste, made the final cut.
