Wine & Cats with a touch of nonsense Lonely Planet called our boutique store, La Cava del Barrio, the best wine shop in Santiago (Chile)

So, I figure I should post a photo of our store, La Cava del Barrio, the only shop in Santiago (Chile) devoted to small scale, national winemaking projects.

Yeah, we’re all the way at the end of the world but *do* drop by if you come our way.

Cheers!
This is our store:
La Cava del Barrio. Imagine a small space with shelves on both sides, packed to the ceiling with bottles. The back wall is painted black with a large map of Chile that shows the recognized wine regions from north to south. And lastly, imagine a glass chandelier hanging in the middle.

Been standing in that line, eating Twinkies, eh?

I've had two go-tos lately: When Will You Come Home + the Ceremony cover.
guerrieroc.bsky.social
If I may ask, which one has been on heavy rotation?
guerrieroc.bsky.social
Covers aren't always my thing, but I do like this one.

I've been thinking about this match up since last week. While "Epic" may be one of my favorite songs from 1989 and I love the very concept of FNM (and you may be surprised how very loved they are here in Chile), G500's ON FIRE is a superior, complete, even "immersive" listening experience IMO.

I can't seem to distill a longer reflection about the correlation between the initial seeding & the Final 32 (which might not even be correct), but I don't mean to suggest people look at the seeding and automatically vote for the higher of the two.

Let's see if we get 3rd round upsets.
guerrieroc.bsky.social
Ah, thank you very much for finding that!
guerrieroc.bsky.social
* At least early on.

Does that tend to hold into future rounds?

I guess the initial seeding voters could also be a very good sample for the tourney voters, assuming that they aren't completely overlapping groups.

What's lowest seed to ever win?

(Forgive my musings, this *is* my 1st rodeo).

[Trying to avoid saying something stupid]

So, seeding is pretty much destiny? * The first 22 all made it and only 5 of the 32 final seeds weren't already in the inicial top 32.

Largely, people voting the same way for seeding/tourney? Not many voters who missed seeding but show up in tourney?

It seemed like my entire feed was watching the 15 inning Mariner - Tiger game. That was cool.

I mean, how can a baserunner even know how to react? You would have thought it was caught...
guerrieroc.bsky.social
WTF?
I have never seen *that* before. How in the world (as a baserunner) can you even tell that the ball was not caught?
guerrieroc.bsky.social
Have the British contingent come to the aid of Spacemen 3? I could swear that at one point Neil was up 62/38 and now he's only got a 5 vote advantage and it's 52/48.

IMO both of these could / should be in the Final 32, so if FREEDOM wins, it's cool, but I voted for S3.
guerrieroc.bsky.social
I just realized I hadn't been following you, which seems extremely uncool of me considering that I read every newsletter and marvel that you and @nanette.bsky.social come up with interesting things to say each time.

As penance, I promise to vote for Anaroknophobia for the '01 tourney.

This is a tough call for me but I have to agree with you.

Batman shouldn't have gotten this far IMO but surely now it will fall victim to the Pacman.

But it's going to get painful this round; we're going to lose some great competitors.
guerrieroc.bsky.social
I voted Fugazi but I thought this would be a lot closer since there seemed to be lots of vocal support for Nomeansno. And yet we have a 74/26 breakdown with 124 responses tabulated, which surely is insurmountable.
guerrieroc.bsky.social
Since you brought them up, Nanette, I would just like to say that when we get to the 1987 tourney, Sisters of Mercy Floodland will be a Top .... hmm... 15? Seed for me, and '87 is just *stacked* with great music IMO.
guerrieroc.bsky.social
count on me in '88.

My crusade for the '01 tourney is to get GOTAN PROJECT into the bracket, but (looking forward) when we get to '02 I plan to spread the gospel of "Siempre Es Hoy".

An aside -- I was surprised to see that Juana Molina has a following among the Electorate!

Thanks for participating in the thought experiment (said completely non-ironically).

Since I'm unfamiliar with so many of those songs, I'll go with Seven Nation Army here.

I *want* to say "Puente" by the late, great Argentinean rocker, Gustavo Cerati, but that's non-English category.
guerrieroc.bsky.social
This will sound like a cop out becuase I threw this into the ring, but 1 thing that's become very clear in the short time participating in the tourneys is that I have this gaping hole in my musical education from about '96 to '10 due to living abroad & "My Life", with only flashes of knowledge.

Rolling Stone has decided that Missy Elliot's 2001 track Get Ur Freak On is the greatest song of the 21st C.

That track is on album that will surely be in the @bestalbumbrackets.bsky.social '01 tourney, so I was curious what alternatives the Electorate proposes

I love Pacific Rim; I can watch it anytime, starting from any scene, and enjoy it.

I had scoffed at the very idea of another Tron movie, but after reading your review (and noting our shared approval of Pacific Rim), I'll definitely give it a go. Very nice write-up.

[Puts Roots Manuva on list of albums to listen to]

I can add that there are some really nice tracks on Clearlake's 2006 album, AMBER. In fact, as a total package I'd say it's better than '01's LIDO.

So, thanks, @megabrow12.bsky.social. Happy to go to bat with you for LIDO in the '01 tourney!
